JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Anglican Development Services Eastern (ADSE) is the development Agency of


the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) in the Eastern Region covering the Dioceses
of Machakos, Kitui, Makueni and Garissa. ADSE envisions a vibrant organization
transforming communities to enjoy secure and sustainable livelihoods and its
mission is to transform communities through participatory approaches and Godly
Principles for quality life. Anglican Development Services Eastern (ADSE) is working
in partnership with Unique Land usese GmbH(UL), to implement the Makueni
Agroforestry Carbon Project (MACP). This Project is being implemented in Makueni
County and it will work with smallholder farmers in natural climate solutions. Unique
Land Use is responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of the project
implementation including the carbon monitoring and the implementation of
quality extension services through ADSE. The project targets the rehabilitation of
approximately 40,000 ha of smallholder-owned farms.

Anglican Development Services Eastern wishes to recruit competent and


qualified personnel to fill the following vacancies;

1. Job Title: Project Manager (1 Position)


Project Name Makueni Agroforestry Carbon Project (MACP)
Position Reports to Chief Manager Programs
Position Supervises Project Officers (POs)

Key Responsibilities:
 Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources, ensuring that the
project is proceeding according to the scope, schedule, budget, and
quality standards.
 Provide leadership to the project team and throughout the project cycle
(planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting) to meet
project’s goals and milestones.
 Work closely with the MACP M&E officer and POs in the coordination and
supervision of the project staff.
 Preparation of annual Work plan and Budget, ensuring proper and timely
expenditures according to budget and schedule..
 Provide support to the M&E officer on the establishment and smooth
running of a carbon monitoring system, based on the existing M&E system.
 Manage project grants in accordance with the donor as well as
organizational guidelines in liaison with the Head of Finance.

 Support the training of Project Officers, Field Officers and Community
facilitators in the use of digital tools to collect, analyze, monitor and report
carbon monitoring data, in coordination with the MACP M&E officer.
 Support the carbon monitoring Officer to ensure quality control of project
reporting and the carbon monitoring system operated by ADSE.
 Capacity builds the Project officers on SALM, Agroforestry, farmer
organization, business development and financial literacy.
 Support Project officers in capacity building field officers on SALM,
Agroforestry, farmer organization, business development and financial
literacy.
 Ensure and monitor farmer group formation and contracting.
 Ensure carbon project validation and verification are conducted.

Skills and Qualification:


 Must have a degree in either Agriculture, Agroforestry, Forestry,
environmental management, Climate Change, project management or
any other relevant disciplines.
 Minimum of 5 years of relevant and professional work experience in
developmental projects in Agriculture, agroforestry, environment or project
management.
 Working experience from Carbon Offset Projects will be desirable.
 Familiar with various web-based platforms, such as Comcare, Google
Suites, Kobo tool kit, SurveyCTO, Smart farm, KDDart among others.
 Ability to multi-task with tight deadlines/schedules and attention to details.
 Ability to work independently and as a team as well as high degree of
flexibility.
 Excellent writing, research, communication, and interpersonal skills.
 Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Swahili.

2. Job Title: Field Officers ( 55 Positions)
Project Name Makueni Agroforestry Carbon Project (MACP
Position Reports to Project Officer
Position Supervises Community Facilitators

Key Responsibilities
 Analysis of the current status of farms, practices, and outputs.
 Coordinating sensitization of farmers to form or join existing groups.
 Capacity building of community facilitators and farmer groups on SALM,
Agroforestry, farm organization, business development and financial literacy.
 Group formation and contracting.
 Support monitoring data collection from farmers and farmer groups by the
Community facilitators.
 Oversee and support data Quality Control and Quality Assurance.
 Follow-up on implementation at the farmer level.
 Farm tracking.
 Carry out annual monitoring surveys for assessing project progress and
outcomes.
 Regular reporting on project progress.

Skills and qualifications


 Diploma in any Agriculture-related courses, Forestry, Natural Resource
Management, project management, Environmental science/Education and
other relevant courses.
 Bachelor’s degree holders in the above-mentioned courses will be an added
advantage.
 The applicants should have an experience of a minimum of 2 years in field
extension services with specialization in Sustainable Land Management
practices skills, Agroforestry systems and farm enterprise development. Proved
experience in working in a dynamic society with local community members
will be an added advantage.
 Excellent verbal and written communicator with good presentation and
organizational skills
 Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) software.
 Familiar with various web-based platforms, such as Comcare, Google Suites,
Kobo tool kit, SurveyCTO, Smart farm, KDDart among others.
 Must be a good team player.
 Possess a valid driving license inclusive of motorcycle class.
 Able to work with minimal supervision but report promptly to the supervisor.

 Strong oral and written communication skills in Kamba, English and Swahili
 Demonstrate willingness to reside within the project area.
