Performance Task in Science

The document discusses eco-friendly homes and ways to reduce climate change. It defines an eco-home as one designed to reduce its carbon footprint and energy needs through insulation, air-tightness, and other features. It then discusses causes of climate change like greenhouse gases and solutions like reducing energy usage and switching to renewable energy. Specific ways to build an eco-friendly home are mentioned, like using ground source heating, roof lights, and organic building materials. The document emphasizes the need to mitigate climate change through individual and societal actions.

Introduction.

An Eco-house (or Eco-home) is an environmentally low-impact home designed and built using
materials and technology that reduces its carbon footprint and lowers its energy needs. An Eco-
house could include some or all of the following: Higher than normal levels of thermal
insulation. Better than normal air-tightness. An Eco-house (or Eco-home) is an environmentally

footprint and lowers its energy needs. ... An Eco-house could include some or all of the
following: Higher than normal levels of thermal insulation. Better than normal air-tightness. In
recent years, terms like "living green" and "Eco-friendly" have become buzzwords on talk shows,
commercials and merchandise promotion. The term "Eco-friendly" has been used for so many
different products and practices; its meaning is at risk of being lost. However, by realizing the
genuine significance of environmentally friendly, you can carry out the practices that will lead to
healthier living for the planet and its residents. An environment friendly house is a house that
ensures that both the fabric of the building and the family that live there have as a minimum
negative influence on the environment as possible.

As early as now it is important to know how our actions affect our surrounding or how they
affect our environment. We need to learn on how to reduce the effects of climate change, we
cannot stop climate change because it is part of nature mother earth. The effects of climate
change are worrying because we don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Climate change is
causing a wide range of impacts today. Extreme weather such as heatwaves, droughts,
hurricanes and flooding rains are intensifying. Melting ice is contributing to sea level rise while
acidifying oceans threatens coral reefs. These climate impacts threaten both the environment
and our society.

As a best craftsman on planet earth and an engineer of BPC green builders

I can give solution to avoid or reduce the effects of climate change, based on the actions of our
government that are destructive and cause climate change we must expect the unexpected.
The first of our current challenges is to admit that we will not stop climate change. Prevention
is no longer an option. The natural systems that regulate climate on the planet are already
changing, and ecosystems that support us are shifting under our feet.

Causes of Climate Change

Earth's temperature depends on the balance between energy entering and
leaving the planet’s system. When incoming energy from the sun is
absorbed by the Earth system, Earth warms. When the sun’s energy is
reflected back into space, Earth avoids warming. When absorbed energy is
released back into space, Earth cools. Many factors, both natural and
human, can cause changes in Earth’s energy balance, including
ariations in the sun's energy reaching Earth
Changes in the reflectivity of Earth’s atmosphere and surface
Changes in the greenhouse effect, which affects the amount of heat
retained by Earth’s atmosphere
SOLUTION TO CLIMATE CHANGE

Carbon mitigation efforts often focus on the world’s poorest people,

partly because they will be the most severely impacted. Lower-income
people tend to have less mobility in order to escape natural disasters,
and less able to recover economically and otherwise. Lower-income
countries can also be the focus of some climate solutions when it is
pointed out that as these places become more wealthy, their lifestyles
will increasingly consume more fossil fuels, demanding they take
action to mitigate these future effects. However, in many ways, this is
tantamount to victim-blaming and directs the focus away from where
the problem largely originates: with wealthy Western lifestyles.

Some argue that more policies are needed that target people at the
opposite end of the social ladder. One paper points out that the super-
rich have long escaped criticism for their lifestyles, yet the top 1% of
income earners could have a carbon footprint 175 times larger than
low-income individuals.

HOW DOES CLIMATE CHANGE AFFECT PHILIPPINES?

The Philippines is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, including sea level rise,
increased frequency of extreme weather events, rising temperatures and extreme rainfall.
This is due to its high exposure to natural hazards (cyclones, landslides, floods, droughts),
dependence on climate-sensitive natural resources and vast coastlines where all major cities
and the majority of the population reside. The Philippines lies in the world’s most cyclone-
prone region, averaging 19–20 cyclones each year, of which 7–9 make landfall. Sea levels in
the Philippines are rising faster than the global average, increasing the hazard posed by storm
surges and threatening permanent inundation of low-lying areas. A rich yet increasingly
depleted natural and marine resources base supports livelihoods through fisheries,
agriculture, forestry, energy, mining and tourism and provides critical ecosystem services such
as shoreline protection, flood control, soil stability and habitats for biodiversity.

How does one avoid/reduce effects of climate change?

There are many changes we can bring about in our life both big
and small to prevent global warming and save our planet. Firstly,
we must stop deforestation in all forms. Do not cut down more
trees as it will only worsen the level of carbon dioxide in the air.
Instead, encourage people to plant even more trees to create a
fine balance in nature.

Moreover, it reduces the usage of energy everywhere. It does

not matter if you are at your home or at your office, the higher
the energy used the more the carbon dioxide produced. Thus, do
not waste electricity as it requires the burning of fossil fuels. As
a result of the burning of fossil fuels, greenhouse gases in the
atmosphere increase rapidly and contribute to global warming.
Moreover, reduce the carbon footprint and do not travel
through planes that often.

Most importantly, replace all your ordinary bulbs with LED

lights. It will help in reducing the use of energy by a massive
amount. Similarly, do not waste that energy. Instead of
becoming more dependent, we need to reduce our dependence
on fossil fuels and electricity right away.

Opt for eco-friendly options like solar energy and win power.
Take up the habit of recycling and reusing. Do not throw away
things instead learn to reuse them properly. Further, carpool
with your neighbors and relatives to not contribute to
automobile exhausts and emissions.

Eco friendly home

Environmentally friendly houses What are the
modern homes that are environmentally friendly?
