12 Synopsis The subject covers three interlinked, major topics: 1. Environmental Chemistry which
covers chemical reactions and kinetics, 2. Environmental Microbiology that covers
detection methods, classification and physiology of the microorganism in the
environment, and 3. Environmental Applications of Microbial and Chemistry related to
the major environmental cycles and chemical reactions such bioleaching, biosorption,
biocorrosion and microbially enhanced oil recovery. Series of experiments and mini
projects will be implemented to enhance knowledge acquisition and hands-on
experience in common environmental sample analysis.
