The Making of Us

It took me a long time to get through this book, but I really enjoyed it! I went into this book thinking it was about something completely different and that was wonderful. I'm hesitant to write any kind of synopsis just because it was so nice to be surprised! But a short one will follow anyway.
Lydia never got to know her mother, and she doesn't like what she does know of her father. Lucky enough for her, he isn't her biological father. She soon finds out from an anonymous letter that she is the product of a sperm donor. This shakes up Lydia's whole world, and for the better.
I really liked how each chapter was a different perspective, but none of them was first person. It really felt like watching a story unfold instead of hearing about it from each individual person.
I was delightfully surprised by this unique tale and its ending.

I liked this departure from Jewell’s typical suspense/mystery works. Good characters, interesting story line. I do enjoy these family saga novels.

I really enjoyed the book but wish the author thought out the ending. The characters were so compelling that the ending felt abrupt. I wish the author either decided to end the book earlier or provide more resolution. That being said, enjoyed the books and characters. Another good one by this author
