State of the art

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a widely embraced social phenomenon and has attracted increasing research interests in the construction industry recent years. However, their coverage of the issues pertaining to CSR in the construction industry are isolated and less comprehensive, failing to encompass the multifaceted nature of the construction industry. This study aimed to reveal and conceptualise the CSR's state of art in the construction industry. Following a systematic selection of 68 papers published in different journals between 2000 and 2017, the inductive and deductive content analysis of these papers reveal four research themes of current CSR research in the construction industry, comprising CSR perception, CSR dimensions, CSR implementation and CSR performance. A conceptual framework was developed accordingly to reflect the CSR research state of art in the construction industry. Furthermore, given the nexus between CSR and sustainable development, insights for enhancing CSR contribution to sustainable development, and sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the construction industry were proposed, including changing the traditional procurement practices, improving legislation for environmental responsibility, integrating CSR dimensions and increasing CSR implementation in small to medium enterprises (SME). The findings of this study will deepen the understanding of CSR in the construction industry, and provide practical implications for different stakeholders in the construction industry to contribute more effectively to sustainable development.

What is the relationship between cultural policies and the state of the arts in Singapore? The State and the Arts in  Singapore: Policies and Institutions, a volume of essays edited  by Terence Chong, answers this question through contributions from scholars, theorists, art administrators, critics, practitioners and journalists familiar with the cultural and arts sectors of Singapore.

The following article is a review of the dental literature available, which is aiming to provide the clinician the up-to-date information about the ceramic metal-free dental materials available in Latin-America. Some clinical aspects are mentioned, as well as, classification, indications, contraindications, advantages and disadvantages of the materials specifically selected for single complete crowns. During the literature search, the articles of clinical research were selected, as well as, the articles dedicated to publish the results in vitro research.
This article is intended to be a guide in order to select a metal-free system for complete crowns based on physical properties and according to the specific esthetic and functional needs of each patient.

This paper is a survey of the research topics in the field of Semantic Web, Linked Data and Web of Data. This study looks at the contributions of this research community over its first twenty years of existence. Compiling several bibliographical sources and bibliometric indicators , we identify the main research trends and we reference some of their major publications to provide an overview of that initial period. We conclude with some perspectives for the future research challenges. RÉSUMÉ. Cet article est une étude des sujets de recherche dans le domaine du Web sémantique, des données liées et du Web des données. Cette étude se penche sur les contributions de cette communauté de recherche au cours de ses vingt premières années d'existence. En compilant plusieurs sources bibliographiques et indicateurs bibliométriques, nous identifions les princi-pales tendances de la recherche et nous référencons certaines de leurs publications majeures pour donner un aperçu de cette période initiale. Nous concluons avec une discussion sur les tendances et perspectives de recherche.

In recent years, archaeological research from the Early Modern Age has progressively become familiar with the theme relating to monastic spaces. However, has the state of knowledge regarding experiences in monastic environments changed thanks to the systematic studies developed in this area of ​​specialization in Archaeology?
It is certain that Monastic Archeology, through the crossing of archaeological and historical data and the continuous study of different sets of elements, manages to bring new information about the daily practices of communities inserted in religious spaces. However, this approach is not restricted to analyzing new information about life, including details about death and inevitably about spirituality in these spaces that consisted of practically independent structures, with their own economies and necropolis that often end up in large cities, agglutinated in the urban area.
Therefore, we seek to understand on what aspects the work developed within the scope of Monastic Archeology is based in Portugal, having witnessed in the present decade an exponential increase in the number of scientific production on this theme throughout the country, thus analyzing the methodologies applied , the issues defended and mainly what their contributions to the construction of a trustworthy identity of the inhabitants of religious cenóbios. At the same time, we intend to compare the data obtained with others from researchers of different nationalities, in an attempt to ascertain the state of Monastic Archeology in Portugal, pointing out factors in which Portuguese research is innovative or retrograde. Therefore, we seek to present a clear synthesis of the way in which this theme has been studied.

The increase, in quantitative and qualitative terms, of research attending to the geological nature of rocks found in archaeological contexts is changing our perspectives about social and economic territories articulated by Palaeolithic societies in the Cantabrian Region. Practically the only raw material researched in a solid geoarchaeological approach in this area is flint. This paper addresses how the near absence of in-depth geoarchaeological research into raw materials other than flint is modifying our perception of the procurement and management mechanism of raw material in the Cantabrian Region during the Palaeolithic. Como discentes no seminário de Arqueologia dos Espaços Conventuais, vários conhecimentos foram assimilados e várias questões se formularam. Destas, uma deu lugar ao presente estudo: “será que o estado do conhecimento referente às vivências em meios monásticos mudou graças aos estudos desenvolvidos nesta área de especialização da Arqueologia?”.
Dado que a questão mencionada se formulou no contexto de um seminário dedicado a essa  área de especialização, parece que colocar em questão a utilidade da mesma é algo absurdo. Contudo, a questão pertinente que pretendemos explorar é “como é que podemos demonstrar e analisar a evolução e consolidação desta temática arqueológica?”. Pretendemos assim dar a conhecer alguns dos trabalhos realizados no âmbito da Arqueologia.
Entenda-se que, embora a temática em estudo abranja uma cronologia alargada, iremos procurar analisar casos arqueológicos referentes à Idade Moderna, muito embora não dispensemos uma contextualização histórica que deslize até aos primórdios da Idade Média.

Resumen: El presente trabajo desarrolla un estado del arte internacional sobre el estudio académico del videojuego desde el punto de vista las Ciencias Sociales, centrando su atención en el campo de la comunicación. El objetivo de este estudio documental consiste en dar cuenta del trabajo científico sobre el juego digital realizado por grupos y centros de investigación conformados de forma interdisciplinaria al interior de diversas universidades; además estriba en mostrar algunas de las más importantes tendencias y asimetrías que prevalecen en su estudio. Si bien este trabajo da cuenta del creciente interés por comprender de manera crítica y desde distintas posturas epistemológicas al videojuego, también se estima una ruta para comprender la incorporación del mismo hacia horizontes cada vez más amplios dentro de las Ciencias Sociales.
Abstract: The present work develops an international state of the art on the academic study of the video game from the point of view of the social sciences, focusing its attention on the feld of communication. The objective of this study is to account for the scientifc work on the digital game made by groups and research centers formed interdisciplinary within various universities and also to show some of the most important trends and asymmetries that prevail in their study. While this work is increasingly aware of the growing interest in understanding critically, from different epistemological and ontological positions, the video game is also estimated here a route to understand the incorporation of the videogame into horizons more and more broad within the social sciences.

To consider this matter in depth, we present the bibliographic and quantitative analysis of 30 representative archaeological sites from the Cantabrian Region whose assemblages were described lithologically using basic and primary categories. The state of play depicts a geographic distribution of raw material in the Cantabrian Region where quartzite is associated with the western sector and flint with the east. Interconnected with this axis, there is a chronological tendency that promotes standardisation in the use of flint by Palaeolithic societies following a chronological order, from the older to the more recent periods. This information, and its contextualisation with the new perspectives resulting from the application of the geoarchaeological proposal used to understand flint procurement, allows us to understand the general tendencies of raw material distribution of the region. Especially, we can detect how the absence of geoarchaeological methodologies of other raw materials than flint has modified the perception of the economic and social dynamics articulated around raw material by Palaeolithic people. This bias does not only affect the geographical and chronological axes, emphasising information from the regions and periods where flint is represented, but also promotes the over-interpretation of long-distance procurement, therefore, building up narratives exclusively based on human mobility.
This situation has generated an incomplete and unbalanced picture of the procurement and management strategies followed by Palaeolithic societies because quartzite, the second most-often used lithic raw material, and other raw materials have only been studied using geoarchaeological methods within the last few years. This research finally points to the continuation of in-depth research of quartzite and other raw materials as the next steps to re-interpret the current paradigms about procurement and management of raw material by Palaeolithic societies, and, therefore, modify our perspectives of social and economic territories.

Resumo O aumento de popularidade das redes sociais tem propiciado oportunidades para novos modelos de negócio voltados para o Comércio Eletrônico, sendo recentemente referido como social commerce. No entanto, sua fundamentação teórica, bem como sua utilização pelas organizações, ainda é percebida de forma distinta entre acadêmicos e praticantes. Neste sentido, buscou-se mapear o estado da arte sobre essa temática, através da realização de uma pesquisa bibliográfica na biblioteca de periódicos da CAPES. O estudo identificou os principais objetivos dessas pesquisas, os conceitos chave associados ao comércio social, as mídias e redes sociais mencionadas e as variáveis e constructos utilizados nos estudos.

La teoría del encuadre, además de constituir un corpus teórico de innegable peso en la literatura científica sobre comunicación, también supone un anclaje metodológico del que parten numerosas investigaciones para aproximarse a sus diferentes objetos de estudio. Ante la relevancia de este paradigma, cuyos fundamentos conceptuales son repasados, el objetivo principal del presente estudio consiste en perfilar, de modo descriptivo y bibliométrico, el estado de la investigación sobre framing en el ámbito hispanoamericano de la última década (2007-2016). Para ello, se seleccionaron las 10 revistas de mayor impacto en 2016, presentes en la base internacional Scopus en la categoría de comunicación. A tenor de los datos recabados, se constata que el estudio del framing en el actual contexto de publicación hispano atraviesa una fase de crecimiento permanente, abanderado por una reducida nómina de autores muy proactivos en el área.

Esta pesquisa objetiva realizar o mapeamento e a análise qualitativa das produções científicas brasileiras nas Ciências Humanas e Sociais sobre o lazer de idosos, entre os anos de 1994 e 2015. Para tanto, foram adotados os procedimentos das pesquisas denominadas ‘estado da arte’ aliados à metodologia de análise de conteúdo. O acesso às produções para constituição do conjunto documental se deu a partir da consulta nas bases de dados Scientific Eletronic Library Online (Scielo) e Portal de Periódicos CAPES/MEC dos seguintes termos indexados: ‘lazer idosos’, ‘lazer terceira idade’ e ‘lazer velhos’, com variações de busca para o gênero feminino. This article investigates the connections between Fashion and Literature in
Brazil, aiming to think about its State of art, focusing on Fashion in Literature, that is, on
fashion as a theme in the literary universe. The specific objectives proposed indicate the
pioneering research, the important events that brought notoriety and encouragement to
studies on the theme in Brazil, and the academic research published as Theses and Dissertations (Stricto Sensu) with this focus. From the observation and analysis of the collected
data, considerations highlighting how the theme Fashion in Literature has been worked in
academic research and its expansion in the last decade in Brazil were elaborated.

Patrimonio y emociones son dos ejes muy relacionados desde la perspectiva humanista y relacional del patrimonio descrita en la literatura reciente (Fontal, 2013; Marín-Cepeda, 2018; 2018a). Estos son los dos ejes principales que guían y orientan el estudio que presentamos. Nuestro objetivo se dirige a conocer y elaborar el estado de la cuestión en torno a las relaciones entre patrimonio y emoción. Para ello, buscamos, localizamos y analizamos la presencia y relación de patrimonio y emoción en los organismos que se encargan de la gestión del patrimonio en las escalas nacional e internacional, y la literatura científica reciente. Realizamos una búsqueda a partir de descriptores específicos para cada eje y elaboramos un análisis cualitativo del estado de la cuestión en la literatura científica, los organismos internacionales (UNESCO y Consejo de Europa) y en normativas nacionales (leyes de patrimonio y planes nacionales).
Todo ello nos permite elaborar un amplio estado de la cuestión en torno a la presencia del patrimonio y las emociones en la normativa nacional e internacional y sus posibles relaciones. Para finalizar, presentamos los principales resultados y su discusión, entre los que encontramos una alta frecuencia en la presencia del patrimonio y las emociones, pero una baja incidencia en su relación e influencia en la normativa analizada.

O objetivo da pesquisa é a de apresentar o estado da arte da produção científica brasileira sobre valores pessoais relativos ao trabalho. A relevância da presente pesquisa é de contribuir para o avanço da teoria dos valores do trabalho, incitando novas pesquisas que relacionem o constructo com os valores básicos e com outras variáveis, a partir da proposta de averiguar o estado da arte nacional. Realizou-se levantamento bibliográfico em bases de dados nas áreas de administração pública e de empresas, ciências contábeis, turismo e psicologia. Foram consultados periódicos científicos nacionais classificados como A2, B1 ou B2 pelo sistema Qualis. Selecionaram-se um conjunto de 33 artigos, entre os anos de 1998 e 2018. Os resultados apontaram que, apesar de encontrar diversos grupos de pesquisa na revisão da literatura internacional, os estudos nacionais se restringiram à utilização do modelo proposto pela psicologia social, que integra os valores pessoais do trabalho aos valores pessoais gerais, e utilizando as escalas nacionais desenvolvidas nessa abordagem. Os trabalhos apresentaram-se mais como descritivos, trazendo pouco avanço para a construção do constructo e do modelo teórico em valores relativos ao trabalho.

This review provides three contributions to research on the determinants of the corporate cash level and its effect on company value. First, the extensive theoretical basis of corporate cash policies is disentangled. I distinguish two categories of theories. The first category comprises theories that stem from capital structure research, namely the trade-off theory and the pecking-order theory. The latter category regards theories that focus on agency conflicts. The second contribution of this review is to identify the most common proxies used in empirical research, aggregate them into general categories of determinants, and compare their predicted influence according to different theories. In sum, 10 general determinants, such as firm size, growth opportunities, leverage, liquidity substitutes and corporate governance, are found to influence corporate cash holdings. The third contribution is provided by reviewing the empirical evidence of what determines the level and market value of cash holdings, comparing these observed associations to the predicted theoretical associations, and pointing out implications for future

Este artículo da cuenta del estado de la cuestión en la última década sobre la formación docente en educación en medios. Para llevarlo a cabo realicé un corpus de 28 artículos académicos publicados entre 2005 y 2015 acerca de este tema. El análisis de estos artículos muestra las principales características de la oferta y de las propuestas en educación en medios para los docentes. A la vez, identifico cinco enfoques en los estudios realizados en este periodo – alfabetización digital, competencias, carencias, creencias y epistemología-, los cuales coinciden en que la formación en educación en medios para los (futuros) profesores es clave para contar con una ciudadanía preparada para la era digital. This article gives an account of the state of the art in teacher training in media education in the last decade. In order to give this overview, a corpus of 28 academic papers published between 2005 and 2015 was created. The analysis of these articles shows the main features of the offer and proposals on media education for teachers. Five different approaches of these studies can be identified-digital literacy, skills, needs, beliefs and epistemology – which all underline the importance of training in media education for (future) teachers in order to create a society prepared for the digital era. The professional training process in universities considers the acquisition of research skills in students to be important, with the purpose of solving the problems of the natural and social environment and generating knowledge and innovation in their field of study. These are developed progressively in a sequence of research subjects and generally begin with the teaching of basic abilities, through various active teaching methodologies in which the accompanying process of the teacher is fundamental. For this reason, a study was carried out whose objective was to verify if the formative feedback actions carried out in the Educational Research subject at a university in Piura, Peru, had a positive effect on the development of scientific inquiry abilities. The experience was carried out using the virtual platforms of the Classroom and Meet.Google. The learning goals were established based on the achievement of scientific inquiry abilities through the development of a State of the Art in which the identification of a topic / problem, formulation of objectives, search for sources of consultation, management of information, management of citations and references, analysis and theoretical interpretation in the preparation of the final report. The study sample consisted of 41 students from the V cycle of the Primary Education professional career. The quantitative-qualitative approach materialized in a methodological, descriptive design whose results were subjected to interpretation. The instruments used were a survey to identify the frequency of feedback actions carried out by the subject teacher and an assessment scale to assess the level of development of scientific inquiry abilities. The two instruments underwent a reliability evaluation, the survey obtained 0.836 and the scale, 0.847. Both instruments were applied to the members of the sample. The results identified frequency percentages of feedback actions that positively influenced the development of scientific inquirí abilities at medium, high and very high levels

The objective of this article is to inventory the knowledge produced in Brazil about the right to education and its articulation with the theme "educational planning", from 1988 to 2018, through the abstract of theses and dissertations available for public consultation at the Banco de Dados da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal do Nível Superior (CAPES) [Database of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel], in the area of Education. The methodology of this research was guided by the State of the Art, through the survey and analysis of the academic production on the theme, in the light of categories and approaches that are detached from the scope of the investigated works. In the context of compulsory basic education, the study revealed the reverberation of the right to education and its relationship with educational planning by making explicit the consolidation of the school as a concrete space for experiences of rights and the State as a mediator in the scope of management and educational planning, simultaneously, to the challenge of overcoming the mismatch between intentions and actions within the scope of the effective enforcement of the guaranteed right in the Brazilian legal system.

Cloud computing has become the ubiquitous computing and storage paradigm. It is also attractive for scientists, because they do not have to care any more for their own IT infrastructure, but can outsource it to a Cloud Service Provider of their choice. However, for the case of High-Performance Computing (HPC) in a cloud, as it is needed in simulations or for Big Data analysis, things are getting more intricate, because HPC codes must stay highly efficient, even when executed by many virtual cores (vCPUs). Older clouds or new standard clouds can fulfil this only under special precautions, which are given in this article. The results can be extrapolated to other cloud OSes than OpenStack and to other codes than OpenFOAM, which were used as examples.

As the number of social websites offering tagging facilities increases, tagging has become not only a common basis for user participation, but also an important aspect of social content. Tagging is primarily based on the user’s participation and interaction, including the sharing and the exchange of their interests. However, even though users can collect and share tagging data with conventional technologies, this data is fragmentary and remains disconnected. Therefore, discovering content across independent sites remains a challenge. On the other hand, technologies of the Web of Data, and especially ontologies, help towards this goal of integrating tagged data. In this paper, we investigate the core features of existing tag ontologies that attempt to represent a common conceptualization of tagging and that provide well-defined semantics for tagging data, allowing for the sharing and interlinking of tagging data across independent sites or communities.

This paper reviews related work and state-of-the-art publications for recognizing motor symptoms of Parkinson's Disease (PD). It presents research efforts that were undertaken to inform on how well traditional machine learning algorithms can handle this task. In particular, four PD related motor symptoms are highlighted (i.e. tremor, bradykinesia, freezing of gait and dyskinesia) and their details summarized. Thus the primary objective of this research is to provide a literary foundation for development and improvement of algorithms for detecting PD related motor symptoms.
