Römische Keramik

Na području antičke luke u Zatonu kraj Nina pronađena je pri hidroarheološkim istraživanjima velika količina keramičkoga materijala, među kojim autor izdvaja i obrađuje dva zoomorfna reci-pijenta. Interdisciplinarnim radom autor nastoji objasniti simboliku ovdje obrađivanih zoomorfnih recipijenata. Komparativnim istraživanjima u vidu analogija upotpunjuje pregled i distribuciju ostalih zoomorfnih recipijenata maloazijske provenijencije pronađenih na prostoru antičke Liburnije. Također će u radu po prvi put biti naznačene poneke poje-dinosti izrazito dokumentacijske i tehničke naravi ovdje obrađi-vanih zoomorfnih recipijenata, poput dodjeljivanja inventarnoga broja, obrade arheološkoga materijala, kolorita i tonaliteta boje, dimenzija, zapremnine i drugih odrednica.

From  the  large  quantity  of  pottery  found  during  the  hydroar-
chaeological research in the ancient port of Zaton near Nin, the
author  singles  out  and  discusses  here  two  zoomorphic  recep-
tacles. Using an interdisciplinary approach, the author endeav-
ors to explain the symbolism of the zoomorphic receptacles dis-
cussed here. In his comparative research, the author uses analo-
gies to complement the overview and distribution of the other
zoomorphic receptacles of the Asia Minor origin found on the
territory of the ancient Liburnia.
Also for the first time, the work provides details of how these
zoomorphic receptacles were documented (e.g. the way of as-
signing their inventory numbers) and some technical details (the
processing of the archaeological material, its colors and shades,
dimensions, capacity and other determinants).

Keramikproduktion in römischer Zeit wird meist mit Drehscheibe und Töpferofen in Verbindung gebracht. Die Analyse von während der Kaiserzeit in der Provinz Noricum verwendeter Keramik zeigt jedoch, dass für die Herstellung der, oftmals als typisch für Noricum angesehenen nicht zur Gänze oxidierend gebrannten Keramik weder das eine noch das andere vorauszusetzen ist. Auf Grundlage der archäologischen und archäometrischen Daten zur in Noricum hergestellten Keramik wird, gestützt auf ethnoarchäologische Analogien, ein Bild eines möglichen Produktionsumfeldes entworfen. Dabei weisen Unterschiede in Gefäßform, -verzierung und -technologie auf das Vorhandensein unterschiedlicher Töpfergruppen hin. Innerhalb dieser wird Knowhow tradiert, womit Lernnetzwerke entstehen, die sich im archäologischen Material als Keramikregionen widerspiegeln. Die Veränderung des Repertoires eines Lernnetzwerkes wird meist durch reziproke Beeinflussung der Töpfergruppen initiiert. So lässt sich ein interregionaler Austausch bezüglich einiger stilistischer und morphologischer Keramikeigenschaften festmachen. Die Töpferwerkstätten selbst sind in Noricum archäologisch unzureichend erforscht. Bislang beschränken sich die Befunde auf Töpferöfen, ohne dass zugehörigeWerkstattbefunde bekannt sind. Diese Situation lässt auch keine Aussagen zu den in den Öfen hergestellten Produkten zu. Es ist allerdings festzuhalten, dass bislang keinerlei Ausschussware der nicht zur Gänze oxidierend gebrannten Keramik mit diesen in Verbindung gebracht werden kann. Damit bleibt eine Charakterisierung des Töpferhandwerks in Noricum auf die Keramik selbst angewiesen. Diese lässt im ethnoarchäologischen Vergleich darauf schließen, dass die nicht zur Gänze oxidierend gebrannte Keramik in Noricum in Betrieben hergestellt wurde, die nicht als Großbetriebe zu charakterisieren sind, sondern sich im Umfeld von household production/industry bis zur workshop industry, in Ausnahmefällen und zeitlich begrenzt auch village industry bewegen.

Roman pottery production is very often automatically connected with throwing wheels and kilns. In contrast, the analysis of pottery used during Roman Times in the Province Noricum shows, that for the production of not fully oxidised wares (which are often considered to be typical for Noricum) neither kilns nor throwing wheels are necessary. In this paper the production environment of pottery in Noricum is investigated on the basis of archaeological and archaeometric data gathered from the pottery and ethnoarchaeological studies related to pottery productions in different societies. Differences in vessel morphology, decoration and technology allow presuming different groups of potters in Noricum. Knowhow is imparted within these groups, which leads to the formation of learning networks. These networks are recognised in the archaeological material as pottery regions. Alteration of the repertoire within a learning network is mostly caused by the interaction of potter’s groups. It is evident, that an exchange of certain stylistic and morphological pottery attributes took place on an interregional level. The specific research on potter’s workshops in Noricum is insufficient at the moment. Most studies are restricted to kilns, without recognising other parts of the presumed workshops. This situation makes it also impossible to characterize the pottery produced in these kilns, but it should be considered that not a single piece of not fully oxidised ware can be reliably connected with one of the kilns. The study of the pottery production in Noricum is therefore restricted to the vessels themselves. Together with ethnoarchaeological analogies these allow presuming, that not fully oxidised wares were not produced in big workshops (large scale industry) but in the environment of household production/industry up to workshop (in exceptional cases and restricted to a short time period) even village industry.

Апстракт: Земљаним радовима на приватном имању у Суваји забележена је касно-античка керамичка радионица, која се састојала од три пећи кружних основа. Биле су распоређене у облик тролиста, са ложиштима усмереним у средишњи део, одакле им се приступало. Две пећи су са решеткастим роштиљем, који обухвата половину радног простора. Једна пећ има компактну, јединствену подницу и делимично са-чуван горњи калотасти део од печене земље. У кругу око пећи, и у самим пећима, пронађена је искључиво груба кухињска керамика, без икаквих украса. У једној пећи пронађен је бронзани новац Аркадија из 384-387. године. Кључне речи: Крушевац, село Суваја, керамичарске пећи, груба кухињска керами-ка, касна антика, новац Аркадија Једна од најпродуктивнијих производних делатности античког све-та била је производња керамике. О томе нам говоре налази на подручју Подунавља у широј зони римског лимеса (Jeremić et al. 2019, 131-168), као и откривене пећи у околини Крушевца. Познат је налаз остатака три рим-ске цигларске пећи из Града Сталаћа, пронађене тик испод средњовековне Куле Тодора од Сталаћа (Минић 1991, 309-315). У селу Чукојевац, недалеко од Врњачке Бање, на левој обали Западне Мораве, на локалитету Пањевац, пронађена је римска цигларска пећ датована у касноантички период (Ља-мић-Валовић 1985, 21-37). Током истраживања рановизантијског локалите-та "Бедем" у селу Маскаре, недалеко од Варварина, пронађена је пећ мањих димензија. Конструкција пећи била је једноставна, постављена на онда-шњем нивоу терена, на поплочању од облутака. Пећ је била крушколиког облика са подницом израђеном од цигли. 1 Ипак, међу најновије пронађене објекте керамичарске делатности на подручју окружја Крушевца спадају на-лази керамичарске радионице из Суваје. 1 Пећ са локалитета "Бедем" није публикована.

Касноантичка керамичка радионица у селу Суваја, састојала се од три керамичке пећи, које су, у односу једна на другу, биле су постављене у облик тролиста, тако да су ложишта пећи усмерана у средишњи део одакле се  приступало ложиштима пећи.  Пећи су са кружном основом. Две пећи су са решеткастим роштиљем који обухвата половину радног простора. Једна пећ има компактну, јединствену подницу и делимично сачуван горњи калотасти део од печене земље. У кругу око пећи, и у самим пећима, пронађена је искључиво груба, кухињска керамика, без икаквих украса. У једној од пећи пронађен је бронзани новац ковање Аркадија, 384-387. год.

This article presents two pottery moulds, the so called “kuchen-
formen”, retrieved in the archaeological excavations carried out in the
Archaeological Park of Molinete (Cartagena, Spain). These objects were
found at the insula IV of the “Barrio del Foro”, located at the foot of the
south-eastern slope of the arx Hasdrubalis, between the Roman Forum
and the sanctuary of Isis and Serapis. The archaeological research su-
ggests that these artefacts are a special type of tools used in the Roman
bakeries (pistrina) dated during the second half of the 2nd and the middle
of the 3rd century ad. We study their iconography, that included a scene
of ludi circenses and a leporid.

The casseroles with relief decoration handles are one of the typical groups of Pannonian glazed pottery in the 2nd century AD. The 44 relief decorated handles made in clay molds are mostly known from Aquincum, Brigetio, and Mursa, while – up until recently – only two molds have been found in Aquincum and Mursa. The new clay mold with Amor decoration, discovered in Brigetio in 2008, expands our knowledge about the production of early Roman glazed potteries. It is unique that besides this mold, a glazed casserole – made with this specific mold – was also found in Brigetio.

L'inventaire détaillé des céramiques du Fossé 1-2 offre un panorama de l'approvisionnement en céramiques de l'agglomération de Briga entre les années 60/70 et environ 120. D'un point de vue typo-chronologique, les poteries étudiées se placent entre celles plus anciennes découvertes dans l'enclos gallo-romain précoce et celles plus récentes du Quartier Nord (deux grands ensembles renseignés aujourd'hui par respectivement 46187 et 126061 tessons).

(oxidierend gebrannte Keramik = OGK) Die 1934 Randstücke der oxidierend gebrannten Keramik ließen sich bis auf 35 Fragmente Gefäßformen zuordnen. Von den so festgestellten Schüsseln/Schalen, Krüge, Töpfe/Becher, Deckel, Teller/Backplatten, Reibschüsseln, Ringschüsseln, Räucherschalen und Amphoren wurden 142 Typen bzw. aussagekräftige Einzelformen zusammengestellt (AM1-AM9, OGK1-OGK133). Bei der Betrachtung der Datierungen fällt auf, dass eine Vielzahl der unter OGK zusammengestellten Funde in den Zeitraum des 1. bzw. 1.-2. Jhs. datiert werden kann (21 bzw. 35 Typen). Weniger Funde ließen sich dem 2. Jh. (9 Typen), dem 2.-3. Jh. (12 Typen) und dem 3. Jh. (4 Typen) eindeutig zuweisen. Aus dem Zeitraum der Spätantike stammen 12 Typen, ebenso viele sind allgemein in die Zeit des 1.-4. Jhs. zu setzen. 27 Typen konnten zeitlich nicht festgemacht werden, 1 Typ stammt aus der Neuzeit. Das Fundspektrum umfasst somit einen Zeitraum von 400-450 Jahren. Die Datierung des bestimmbaren Amphorenmateriales reicht von 70 v. Chr. bis ins 3. Jh. (Dressel 2-4) bzw. vom Beginn des 1. bis ins 1. Viertel des 2. Jhs. (Dressel 6B) bzw. allgemein ins 1.-2. Jh. (Schörgendorfer 558) bzw. vom Ende des 4. bis zur Mitte des 5. Jhs. (Spatheion) und deckt sich somit mit dem Zeitraum der OGK. Es fällt in Bezug auf die Herstellungstechnik auf, dass viele der OGK vergleichbare Formen auch bzw. in einigen Fällen nur in reduzierend gebrannter Keramik vertreten sind (auch in Carnuntum selbst).

Auf der Grabung Frick-Gänsacker 2013–1014 (Fic.013.2) wurde im Hinterhof einer römischen Streifenhausparzelle eine ungewöhnliche Ansammlung zerkleinerter Kalbsknochen entdeckt. Da ähnliche Funde fragmentierter Rinderknochen oft kontrovers interpretiert werden, wurde versucht, durch die interdisziplinäre Verknüpfung verschiedener Untersuchungsmethoden (Archäozoologie, typologisch-funktionale Keramikanalyse und Experimentalarchäologie) die Geschichte dieser Abfälle zu rekonstruieren. Dabei wurde festgestellt, dass die Knochen vermutlich gezielt zur Entnahme von Mark beschafft und aufgeschlagen wurden. Anschliessend könnten sie ausgekocht worden sein, um weitere Produkte wie Suppe oder Fett und Gelee zu gewinnen.

During the period referred to as Late Antiquity (ca. 300-700 AD), the European continent underwent a major transformation when the medieval world replaced the Roman Empire. It was a time defined by many changes, such as the breakdown of the Western Roman state, the emergence of medieval kingdoms, the increasing influence of Christianity and the Catholic Church, the Germanic migrations, etc. While these events each had a sizeable impact on the course of history, it is still often unknown how small communities in various regions experienced these changes or how their day-to-day life was affected.

Während der Spätantike (ca. 300-700 n.Chr.) erfuhr der europäische Kontinent einen bedeutenden Wandel, als die mittelalterliche Welt das römische Reich ersetzte. Es war eine Zeit, die von vielen Veränderungen geprägt war, wie dem Zusammenbruch des weströmischen Staates, dem Aufkommen mittelalterlicher Königreiche, dem zunehmenden Einfluss des Christentums und der katholischen Kirche, den germanischen Migrationen usw. Während diese Ereignisse jeweils einen beträchtlichen Einfluss auf den Verlauf der Geschichte hatten, ist es oft noch nicht bekannt, wie kleine Gemeinschaften in verschiedenen Regionen diese Veränderungen erlebten oder wie ihr Alltag beeinflusst wurde.
