BACKGROUND: Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee is a degenerative, painful pathology, needing conservative treatment for symp-toms' relief. OBJECTIVE: Comparing the effects of Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) and Kinesiotherapy (KIN) on perceived health and range of motion (ROM) of the affected knee. METHOD: A pilot randomized controlled trial with concealed allocation, assessor blinding, intention-to-treat analysis. Forty participants, aged 40–75 with OA of the knee were randomized to an ESWT and a KIN groups. The ESWT group completed 5 interventions for 5 weeks, the KIN group completed the same number of interventions. All evaluations were performed at baseline and after the treatment for: perceived health (Western Ontario and McMaster Universities questionnaire – WOMAC), range of motion (ROM). RESULTS: After the intervention the statistical significant between groups differences favoring the ESWT were found in the WOMAC with regard to pain (p < 0.000), stiffness (p = 0.018), physical function (p < 0.000), total score (p < 0.000), extension and flexion of the affected knee (p = 0.015, p < 0.000) respectively. CONCLUSIONS: ESWT improves WOMAC and ROM better then KIN on the affected knee in patients with OA of the knee.

The aim of this paper is to present the results of the bioarchaeological analysis whose goal was to generate knowledge dealt with the organization of daily activities among the hunter-gatherers buried in the Lower Unit of the Chenque I Site (Lihué Calel National Park, La Pampa province, Argentina). In order to reach this goal, the sample (n: 16) was broken down by sex and age and analyzed. The major appendicular
joints and the spine were examined to identify the distribution, frequency and severity of osteoarthritis and Schmörl nodes, respectively. Data suggested that among the hunter-gatherers buried in this Late
Holocene cemetery, different body uses would have existed according to sex and age, although women and men might have shared some of them. Other factors, such as the social role of individuals, could
have influenced the organization of activities.

Osteoarthritis is a disease caused by loss of cartilage tissue, which acts as a cushion to protect the ends of bones and helps the movement of the joint. It is the most common rheumatic disease, especially among older people and affects more women than men. Knee osteoarthritis has produced particular interest in latest years because it has become one of the major causes of physical disability in both men and women worldwide.
This project aimed to obtain a 3D model of the knee of a patient affected by osteoarthritis, based on specific medical images and then print a prototype of the knee. For this, using a database containing medical images provided by OAI, the study containing the sharpest and best for processing images was selected. Then, working with the study, the bone part of the knee was properly segmented using a software called 3D Slicer. After segmentation, files needed for printing the desired prototype were generated.
After all, it was concluded that it is possible to segment a knee with osteoarthritis using actual patient medical images and then print a 3D prototype that can be used in future analyzes.

Abstract
Since the beginning of bioarchaeology, the studies of osteoarticular disorders use heterogeneous definitions, survey protocols, and analysis proposals, which usually disable adequate comparisons. This paper discusses some problems arising from the diversity of perspectives used, with the aim of highlighting the need to develop consensus for recording and analyzing data in order to generate comparable criteria. It reflects on aspects related to the process of recording of the musculoskeletal indicators and information processing, at the same time that it offers terminological and procedural options that contribute to the generation of frameworks for the development of multi-sample studies.
