Web Content Management system is a management tool for creating a d ynamic website. It ensures logical structure of data organization and ease of content accessing and presenting. Dental laboratories need Web Content Management system (WCMS) to control their business. Maintaining a long-term relationship between dental laboratories and their customers (dental clinics and dentists) urges an active communication process between the two sides. The main contribution of this paper is to design a simple Web Content Management System for Dental Laboratories. The system adopts three layers of technical architecture. The paper will also discuss why there is a need to develop a standalone WCMS for Dental Laboratories whilst other open source WCMSs can be utilized such as Joomla, Drupal and WordPress.

Information is the key asset of all organizations and can exist in many forms. It can be printed or written on paper, stored electronically, transmitted by mail or by electronic means, shown in films, or spoken in conversation. In today's competitive business environment, such information is constantly under threat from many sources, which can be internal, external, accidental, or malicious.
Joomla is a very popular Content Management System (CMS) used for web page maintenance. This highly versatile software has found itself in both large corporate web portals, and simple web pages such as blogs. Such popularity increases its vulnerability to potential attacks and therefore needs an appropriate security management. ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) and IEC (the International Electrotechnical Commission) created the series of standards aimed at providing a model for implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining and improving an Information Security Management System (ISMS). This paper shows how principles set in ISO/IEC 27000 series of standards can be used to improve security of Joomla based web portals.

This business case demonstrates how the implementation of the open source web content management system (WCMS) Joomla will help to address the current business goals and needs of the Australia Institute (TAI).  In addition the business case outlines the benefits and value of adopting an open source solution, makes recommendations and justifies investment in WCMS.  Its also addresses some of the challenges and issues associated with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of a WCMS.  This business case does not cover any financial cost benefit analysis of adopting a WCMS.  It is assumed that such analysis would be carried out after general support for the implementation of this technology is obtained.

Designing dynamic and static web pages have been possible with many good software like Frontpage, Dreamweaver etc. but gradually it became difficult for web developers to design pages due to dynamic nature of these software and different file formats. But evolvement of open source content management system such as Joomla, Drupal, Wordpress, Plone, DotNetNuke etc. have been found as an alternative to this. This paper deals with comparative study between Joomla and Drupal. The basic objective of this paper is to find out the best content management system for content development based on selected criteria which includes installation, platform support, browser support, documentation, community support, modules, extensions, user management, usage, design, performance, scalability etc.

This is a guide demonstrating the installation of Lubuntu operating system on a Windows computer using Liblivecd - the live cd for librarians.  DSpace, Koha, Joomla, Squirrelmail and other essential applications are pre-installed in Liblivecd.  This means that installation of Lubuntu will come bundled with the above mentioned software.  Thanks to Dr. A R D Prasad, Documentation Research and Training Centre, Bengaluru, India and Dr. Sunita Barve, National Chemical Laboratory, Pune for developing Liblivecd.

Σκοπός της εργασίας αυτής είναι να περιγράψει αναλυτικά τη δημιουργία δυναμικής σχολικής ιστοσελίδας Joomla! με τον αυτοματοποιημένο τρόπο του Πανελληνίου Σχολικού Δικτύου.  Θα περιγράψουμε τη δημιουργία της ιστοσελίδας http://2gym-peiraia.att.sch.gr . Η ιστοσελίδα αυτή διαμορφώθηκε σε συνεργασία με το διευθυντή του σχολείου, ώστε να εξυπηρετεί τις ανάγκες της συγκεκριμένης σχολικής μονάδας. Στόχος είναι να χρησιμοποιείται από όλους τους καθηγητές του σχολείου για να αναρτούν άρθρα, υλικό μαθήματος και εργασίες των μαθητών τους. Στο τέλος της εργασίας παρουσιάζεται η εμπειρία των χρηστών μέσα από την περιγραφή του διευθυντή του 2ου Γυμνασίου Πειραιά.

Online shopping is a form of electronic commerce whereby consumers directly buy goods or services from a seller over the Internet without an intermediary service. Consumers find a product of interest by visiting the website of the retailer directly or by searching among alternative vendors using a shopping search engine. Once a particular product has been found on the web site of the seller, most online retailers use shopping cart software to allow the consumer to accumulate multiple items and to adjust quantities, like filling a physical shopping cart or basket in a conventional store [1]. A "checkout" process follows (continuing the physical-store analogy) in which payment and delivery information is collected, if necessary. Some stores allow consumers to sign up for a permanent online account so that some or all of this information only needs to be entered once. The consumer often receives an e-mail confirmation once the transaction is complete.

Moodle is an open-source course management system, used by course administrators to manage courses electronically. Moodle supports a wide range of functionality; for example, Moodle can store course content, track student performance, support interactive forums, chat services, email-style messaging and administer multiple choice exams.  Doodle is a popular online system for scheduling events which involve many participants.  It is often the case that a course administrator would like to schedule meetings with a student, or groups of students. At the moment Moodle does not support this functionality, so the administrator might use Doodle instead. The problem is that the administrator must manually transfer details of students and groups to doodle, and manually manage the emails for confirming the meetings. Providing Doodle-like functionality in Moodle would greatly simplify scheduling meetings with students. The aim of this project is to provide such functionality within Moodle.

New methods of identifying and fixing accessibility issues on websites are presented in this article. The websites taken into consideration by the research are created with content management systems (like WordPress or Joomla!). Our main goal was to develop different methods to improve accessibility that may be used by various user groups (website creators, operators, content editors). Some of our methods are easy to use, some need more proficiency. The three methods we have developed (CSS/SCSS class override, MVC-based extension override, HTML output override) are described in detail. The use of an already existing method (Data entry checking) is also introduced, as well as some development options of this method. Each method is introduced in general, furthermore an example of their usage is also presented. Using the proposed methods, websites can fulfil the recommendations of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) in order to make the content of the websites more accessible.

Immár több mint egy évtizede Magyarországon is hódító útjára indult, és robbanásszerűen elterjedt az internet. Kezdetben szöveges honlapokkal, a Lynx böngészővel (1991) szörfözhettünk, később sorra megjelentek a grafikus böngészők: a Mosaic (1993), a Netscape (1994), majd az Internet Explorer (1995). Egyre több intézmény, így a könyvtárak is szükségét érezték, hogy honlappal mutatkozzanak be az interneten. Az elmúlt tíz év soha nem sejtett változásokat hozott. Ma már egészen más követelményeknek kell megfelelniük az intézményi honlapoknak. Tekintsük át, milyen fejlődési fázisokon mentek keresztül, milyen eszközökkel állíthatjuk elő őket a korszerű követelményeknek megfelelően, s hogyan tarthatók naprakészen.

Este artigo apresenta uma abordagem sobre os Sistemas de Gestão de Conteúdo, que são ferramentas indispensáveis para quem quer publicar informações de maneira rápida e dinâmica através da Internet. Hoje em dia, esse volume é muito grande e só tende a aumentar, o que inviabiliza o gerenciamento manual dos conteúdos dinâmicos dos sites. Os Sistemas de Gestão de Conteúdos servem para automatizar o processo, conferindo rapidez, segurança e confiabilidade para as informações compartilhadas na Internet. Este artigo, então, procura contextualizar o cenário do surgimento desses sistemas, explicar o seu funcionamento e suas características principais. Duas ferramentas são abordadas, Drupal e Joomla, juntamente com as suas particularidades, vantagens e desvantagens além de uma comparação entre elas, confrontando suas potencialidades e limitações, a fim de esclarecer ao usuário qual é mais adequada para determinado uso.

Para garantir a qualidade de vida do trabalhador, instalações para permanência de funcionários no canteiro devem seguir exigências da NR 18. Sempre que houver necessidade, como no caso de obras afastadas dos centros urbanos, as construtoras devem instalar alojamentos provisórios nos canteiros para a permanência dos funcionários. Essa é uma exigência da Norma Regulamentadora no 18 (NR 18). Esses locais devem ser de boa qualidade para garantir a saúde dos funcionários e, consequentemente, o bom andamento da construção. De acordo com a NR 18, um alojamento considerado bom deve ter abastecimento de água potável, luz natural e/ou artificial, sistema higiênico e remoção de lixo, ausência de umidade, instalações elétricas protegidas, proteção contra ruído excessivo, entre outras características. Caso essas exigências não sejam cumpridas, a construtora pode ser multada. Já para os trabalhadores que não estão alojados no canteiro, é obrigatória a construção de vestiários. As instalações devem estar próximas aos alojamentos ou à entrada da obra, sem ligação direta com o refeitório, e os armários devem ser individuais e possuir cadeados ou fechaduras. É aconselhável também que os armários sejam metálicos, como os usados em clubes, escolas ou academias. A coordenadora de Segurança, Meio Ambiente e Saúde Ocupacional da construtora Racional, Maria Aparecida Pantarolli, explica que os vestiários devem ser planejados de acordo com o número de funcionários previsto na obra. É importante lembrar que cada fase da obra tem uma quantidade diferente de funcionários. Por isso, pode ser necessário redimensionar o tamanho do vestiário conforme a obra avança. Ela relata também que "os vestiários da Racional têm área mínima de 2 m² para cada usuário, os pisos são de concreto, cimentado, os armários são individuais com cadeado e o pé-direito varia entre 2,70 m e 3 m".

Relato da experiência de extensão desenvolvida no Projeto Fotolivre.ufsc, site elaborado com softwares livres e utilizando a licença Creative Commons. O objetivo principal do projeto foi divulgar a produção discente das disciplinas de Fotografia do Curso de Jornalismo da UFSC, na forma de banco de imagens. A metodologia desenvolvida primeiramente com a pesquisa bibliográfica sobre banco de imagens e ferramentas livres para a criação de produtos fotojornalísticos on-line e sua utilização. Em seguida, foi criado o site Fotolivre.ufsc, feito com aplicativos livres, como o Joomla, com a estruturação de um banco de imagens da produção fotográfica dos alunos. O site Fotolivre.ufsc foi lançado durante a 8ª Sepex – Semana de Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão da UFSC, em outubro de 2009. Realizado no período de maio a dezembro, o projeto constituiu-se em uma iniciativa de interesse para a comunidade em geral, estimulando a produção fotojornalística acadêmica e o uso de softwares livres.
