Com o fenômeno global do envelhecimento populacional, as atenções recaem na busca da melhoria de qualidade de vida para idosos. A Organização Mundial da Saúde [1] destaca aspectos como transporte, habitação, trabalho, proteção social, serviços de saúde e cuidados de longo prazo. Assim, o conceito Cohousing vem ao encontro do Envelhecimento Saudável, otimizando a capacidade funcional do idoso, permitindo-o realizar tarefas que lhe sejam importantes [1]. As Cohousings são comunidades intencionais surgidas em 1972 na Dinamarca [2], resgatando valores de comunidade e estilos de vida saudáveis. As Senior Cohousings, destinadas a maiores de 50 anos, favorecem o acesso a cuidados intensivos de saúde, autonomia e convivência social, representando diferentes significados e experiências nos campos físico, psicológico e social [3]. No Brasil, a internet vem auxiliando na informação e na organização social de grupos com afinidades e objetivos comuns [4]. De 2011 a 2013, o número de idosos brasileiros utilizando redes sociais, especialmente sites de relacionamento, aumentou 39,3% [5]. Esse perfil do “novo idoso” integra o conceito do Envelhecimento Ativo, um processo de otimização das oportunidades de saúde, participação e segurança. Estudos anteriores revelam traços do perfil dos moradores mais velhos das cohousings na Suécia [6] e identificam diretrizes projetuais através do processo participativo com futuros moradores no Brasil, porém sem foco etário [2]. O artigo objetiva traçar um perfil dos possíveis futuros usuários idosos dessas comunidades, pelo acompanhamento de postagens e comentários espontâneos em redes sociais e sites, buscando (i) identificar as razões que levariam adultos mais velhos a viver em cohousings no Brasil e (ii) avaliar a importância de fatores físicos, psicológicos e sociais nesta escolha. Para isso, realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica sobre cohousing, psicologia ambiental e idosos e análise de conteúdo [7] em sites com grupos brasileiros da rede social Facebook que tenham como tema cohousing e participantes idosos interessados em adotar este modo de habitação. A análise, feita a partir de palavras-chave, identifica aspectos do significado da casa: Psicológica, Social, Econômica, Material, Temporal e Tempo- Espaço [3]. Partindo dos resultados obtidos através da categorização das palavras chaves dentro das 6 dimensões analisadas conclui-se que existe uma maior ocorrência de intensões a respeito de moradias compartilhadas dentro de duas categorias em especial: material e psicológica. As expectativas por parte dos relatos dentro da dimensão psicológica são quase tão importantes quanto as expectativas na material. Essa busca por amparo psicológico em seu ambiente de moradia, pode ser creditada a perdas nas capacidades físicas, cognitivas e sociais, levando a um estreitamento da inserção social dos idosos e um consequente sentimento de abandono e solidão [8]. Também relevante, é a presença maior de depoimentos femininos, totalizando 90,47% dentre os coletados. Uma das hipóteses para essa ocorrência maior entre mulheres é a busca por afirmação de independência [6]. O perfil do novo idoso dentro do conceito de Envelhecimento Ativo, auxilia na compreensão do aumento da procura por moradias alternativas, especialmente pelas cohousing, pois a organização deste tipo de comunidade, reforça os valores buscados por este novo perfil, presentes nos depoimentos dos idosos analisados.

Nowadays shopping centers in many Polish cities and towns are not only replacing traditional shops, but have eventually become a substitute for lively public spaces. Moreover, they serve as regional points of interest for people from even relatively distant locations. Why are malls so magnetic? What human needs are fulfilled therein? What do people like and dislike in such environments? What emotions can be activated by or associated with shopping malls? To what extent can those cognitions and emotions be similar or different, according to the spatial arrangement, architectural traits or identity of specific mall? Which dimension of environmental quality most affects well-being in malls: functionality, convenience, safety, leisure, atmospherics, self-identification or otherwise?

In search for answers stated above, both correlational and qualitative research was launched. The study was conducted in Wroclaw, Poland. Over 300 participants were evaluating five shopping malls, including the oldest, post-communist one (opened in 2001), and the modernized former Wertheim Department Store (first opened in 1930). The author’s questionnaire based on shopper well-being dimensions proposed by El Hedhli, Chebat and Sirgy (2011) was used in quantitative survey. The qualitative data was obtained from participants by pen and paper method, including sketch mapping technique.

In the Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Australia, a deeply worrying trend has emerged where the approval of major mining projects is predicated on the rescinding of areas previously set aside to conserve environmental, including heritage, values. Here, I want to explore the juxtaposition of a landmark dual listing for the well-known and highly culturally significant rock art site of Baiame Cave, against the devastating impacts on community well-being posed by the extension of the Mt Thorley Walkworth Mine. The long-awaited judicial recognition of place attachment and the acknowledgment of negative consequences for community well-being via landscape-scale transformations from mining at the village of Bul-ga appear at odds with the almost simultaneous dual listing of the nearby Baiame Cave as an Aboriginal Place and a place of State Significance (inscribed on the NSW Heritage List). This case study adds to a burgeoning global literature on the complex impacts mining and other large-scale industrial activities have on indigenous heritage. The frightening example given here should serve to raise scrutiny for legislative processes and decision-making frameworks governing heritage protection everywhere.

This article examines the conception of the everyday city as presented in the work of architect Christopher Alexander and architectural theorist Bill Hillier: Both thinkers suggest that, in the past, lively urban places arose unself-consciousty through the routine daily behaviors of many individual users coming together in supportive space and place. In different ways. both thinkers ask whether, today, a similar manner of vital urban district can be made to happen self-conscioustv through explicit understanding transformed into design and policy principles. The aim for both Alexander and Hillier is place-based urban communities marked by lively streets, serendipitous public encounters, and informal sociability. The article begins by examining commonalities and differences in Alexander and Hillier's conceptions of environmental wholeness and urban place. Next. the article considers implications for urban design and, last, indicates the considerable value that the two thinkers' ideas offer environmental philosophy, particularly for understanding environmental wholes.

Like the digital pets the project is named for, the Tamagotchi Project will use aspects of the building system (lighting, HVAC, audio-visual) to deliver environmental cues (colors, temperature changes, sounds, even scents) anthropomorphizing the building. The objective of this study was to find out the level of job anxiety among post graduate teachers (PGTs) working in private and government schools in Dehradun. The researcher used descriptive method involving measurement, evaluation, comparison, and interpretation. Study was conducted on 360 PGTs working in 10 private and 10 government schools in Dehradun. It includes 180 male PGTs and 180 female PGTs. From each school, 9 male and 9 females were selected. A.K. Srivastav's Job anxiety scale was used to measure job anxiety and stress level and ꭓ 2 test was applied for statistical analysis of data. Result indicated that 63.33% PGTs are facing high level of job anxiety and 18.33 % are at low level of job anxiety. Among male and female PGTs, 65% male are facing higher anxiety and 61.66% female PGTs. Total 77.78% PGTs in private schools are facing higher anxiety and 48.89% of government schools.

In light of contemporary developments that covered all fields, the companies struggle to acquire a broad base in consumers for the products offered in the global markets. They depend on the tremendous technological development that contributed to the convergence of the nations and societies. And the designers sought to achieve the universal design that obtains a widespread among broad societal levels and segments, according to its ease of perception from all people with different abilities.
The expansion of the application of the universal design includes the buildings' interior design to facilitate the interaction of individuals with the internal elements and to percept its details quickly. Therefore, the need came to define the extent to which the universal design principles can be achieved in the interior design spaces. And if it could deal with the variant human capabilities and whether its application in the buildings' interior may conflict with the fulfillment of different human needs. This research aims to clarify if it can provide the principles of the universal design that may contribute to achieving human comfort, psychologically and physically, in interior spaces, and that is through analytical and interpretative studies.

This research on natural medicine producing SMES in the Amazon used an approach based on Schumpeter's ideas, done mainly by researchers from the Economics Institute of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the Federal University of Minas Gerais. The first group researched SMES throughout Brazil in collaboration with hundreds of researchers from other developed and emerging countries and constructed an approach used in our case studies. The second group developed an alternative method based upon innovation in emerging spaces, typical for organizations with few resources, weak institutions, and weak governance. With the evident influence of globally famous thinkers and ideas from the Northern Hemisphere, these knowledge networks have articulation among North-South partners. These SMEs have intensive traditional knowledge appropriation. They operate in an adverse context, lack capital, and face technological difficulties, inadequate regulations, and multinational lobby. However, they are making progress and can innovate with singular products based on ingredients from rare ecosystems which need care and preservation.

Στο άρθρο παρουσιάζεται έρευνα που πραγματοποιήθηκε σε σχολεία της Νικόπολης και της Ευξεινούπολης, περιοχές στη δυτική Θεσσαλονίκη που αποτελούν τόπους εγκατάστασης ομογενών μεταναστών από την πρώην Σοβιετική Ένωση. Για τη διερεύνηση της εικόνας της πόλης που έχουν τα παιδιά χρησιμοποιήθηκε η μέθοδος του ιχνογραφήματος (ζωγραφιάς). Οι συνθήκες ζωής των παιδιών στις γειτονιές αυτές αποκαλύπτουν την περιθωριοποίηση των κοινοτήτων των ομογενών από την υπόλοιπη πόλη.

This paper addresses two questions: (1) How does the visibility and convenience of a hedonic food influence one's consumption, and (2) how do these factors influence one's estimate of how much he or she had consumed? Both questions have important implications for clinicians and for the nutritionally concerned. Answering the first question will show the extent to which two environmental factors (visibility and convenience) influence consumption. Answering the second will show the extent to which consumers overestimate or underestimate the influence of these factors. This is important in helping individuals monitor consumption patterns of which they may be unaware.

Explorou-se neste estudo quais os lugares preferidos e não preferidos por 562 jovens (292 F e 270 M), com idades entre 13 e 19 anos (média = 15 anos e 7 meses e desvio padrão = 1 ano e 1 mês), freqüentando a primeira série do ensino médio, sendo 274 de escolas públicas e 288 de escolas particulares. Dentre os participantes 39,5% moram no Plano Piloto de Brasília e 60,5% em Cidades Satélites do DF. Em casas, moram 341, em apartamento, 215. Os resultados mostram que o lugar favorito mais freqüentemente mencionado foi a própria casa, indicado por 195 (35,3%) dos respondentes, seguido por Shopping (n = 108; 19,6%) e bar/boate/festa (n = 103; 18,7%). While place-based methods are increasingly being used to explore why place matters for health, how places matter for mental health and psychological wellness is less understood. Overall, approaches that consider community, environmental, and neighborhood-level factors have been taken up to a lesser extent by psychologists. Yet methods that situate human behavior within a spatial context have the potential to expand psychological and interdisciplinary inquiry aimed at improving mental and cognitive health. This article presents a brief overview of one type of mobile method, the go-along walk, that can be used with a variety of technologies and complementary methods to better understand how individuals respond to places and environmental stimuli, including place-based exposures. Implications for broadening the range of research questions and translational applications are discussed.
