She is also a research assistant at the Institute for Soci... moreSelena Radović is a PhD candidate at the University Paris-8, France (Pratiques et théories du sens - Laboratoire d'études du genre et de la sexualité), and a PhD candidate at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. She is also a research assistant at the Institute for Sociological Research within the project Challenges of New Social Integration in Serbia: Concepts and Actors. She completed undergraduate studies in sociology (Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade), then master studies at the same Department, and the master studies at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Belgrade. As additional training, she has also attended Women’s Studies and Queer Studies.
She started teaching in 2012 in the course Introduction to the Sociology of Music at the Department of Sociology in Belgrade, and since 2014 has been engaged at the courses Introduction to Sociology 1 and Introduction to Sociology 2. In 2015 she was teaching assistant in Sociology at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences. Since then she has been the secretary of the scientific journal Sociology. She is a permanent lecturer at the School of Media Literacy, and from 2019 on she has been engaged as a lecturer at Erasmus + programs as well as at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory within the lecture series Reflections on Gender.
As a holder of the French Embassy Scholarship, she was on a professional specialization in Paris through a unique program of gender studies – the Institute Genre, Travail, Mobilités (Centre de Recherches Sociologiques et Politiques de Paris).
She is currently writing a PhD thesis in joint guardianship, at the University of Paris and the University of Belgrade on the topic of Transformation of Sexuality in Contemporary Societies in Serbia and France.edit - Eric Fassin, Vladimir Vuletićedit

Starting from the theories that prolong mayor influence of media as the agency of socialization and criticism of gender representation in the media, in this work we observed whether the image of women in Disney?s animated films has changed during the time, and if so, in which way the change happened. Basic dimensions of gender roles of the heroines that have been placed in one of the most influential franchises named Disney?s Princesses are described in the essay. More precisely, all of the 12 animated films and 13 heroines that had been emerging from 1937 to 2013 were embraced in the analysis. During the research close attention has been given to the activities heroines are committed to, communications they make, their physical appearance, goals, and also the attitude towards marriage and sexuality. The main finding is that the ?oldest? heroines (those who appeared between 1937 and 1959) are represented in accordance with the expectations of the patriarchal culture of the period (a...

APSTRAKT: Polazeći od teorija koje govore o velikom značaju medija kao agensa socijalizacije, kao i kritika rodnih reprezentacija u medijima, kroz rad smo ispitivali da li se i kako slika žene u Diznijevim animiranim filmovima tokom vremena menjala. U radu su opisane osnovne dimenzije rodnih uloga junakinja koje su svrstane u jednu od najuticajnijih franšiza pod nazivom "Diznijeve princeze". Preciznije, analizom je obuhvaćeno svih 12 animiranih filmova i 13 junakinja koje su nastajale od 1937. do 2013. godine. Prilikom posmatranja ovih animiranih junakinja posebna pažnja je posvećena aktivnostima koje one obavljaju, komunikacijama u koje one stupaju, njihovom izgledu, ciljevima, kao i odnosu prema braku i seksualnosti. Glavni nalaz istraživanja je da su "najstarije" junakinje (koje su nastale između 1937. i 1959.) prikazane u potpunosti u skladu sa očekivanjima patrijarhalne kulture (kao poslušne i vredne žene, izopštene iz društva i čiji je jedini cilj stupanje u brak), dok su kasnije princeze predstavljane vidno drugačije, kao samostalne, obrazovane i neposlušne. Takođe, analizom je uočeno da se među princezama koje su nastale u poslednjoj deceniji javljaju različiti trendovi, te da neke od njih nastavljaju put emancipacije, dok se kod drugih mogu uočiti naznake retradicionalizacije.
