Industrial production in Kazakhstan rose by 2.3% year-on-year in January 2024, easing from a 3.8% increase in the previous month. This marked the third consecutive month of growth in industrial activity but the softest pace in the sequence, as output sharply slowed for manufacturing (3.7% vs 12.4% in December). At the same time, production declined for both electricity, gas, steam, hot water, & air conditioning (-0.7% vs 4.2%) and water supply and waste management (-5.6% vs -0.6%). Meanwhile, activity recovered for mining and quarrying (1.3% vs -3.9%).
