Industrial production in Kazakhstan advanced by 3.8% year-on-year in December 2024, following a 3.7% increase in the previous month. This marked the second consecutive month of growth in industrial activity, as output accelerated for both manufacturing (12.4% vs 9.9% in November) and electricity, gas, steam, hot water, & air conditioning (4.2% vs 0.9%). Meanwhile, production declined for mining and quarrying (-3.9% vs -1.8%) and water supply and waste management (-0.6% vs 9.6%). On a monthly basis, industrial activity rose by 7.9%, easing from an 8.9% gain in the prior period. For the whole year, industrial output was 2.8% higher compared to the same period last year.

Kazakhstan Industrial Output Rebounds in November
Industrial production in Kazakhstan increased by 3.7% year-on-year in November 2024, rebounding from a 2% decline in the previous month. The recovery was driven by faster growth in manufacturing output (9.9% vs 4.8% in October) and water supply and waste management (9.6% vs 1.7%). Additionally, activity recovered for electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and air conditioning (0.9% vs -0.4%), while the contraction in mining and quarrying output eased significantly (-1.8% vs -8.4%). On a monthly basis, industrial activity surged 8.9%, recovering sharply from a 2.5% drop in October. For January-to-November, industrial output was 2.7% higher compared to the same period last year.
