Be it known that I, THOMAS M. DUDGEON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Orafton, in the county of Allegheny and State of 5 Pennsylvania, haveinvented a new, original, and ornamental Design for Fireplace-Fronts, of which the following is a full, clear, and eX- act description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part hereof, in

io which theinvention is illustrated in front elevation.

The leading features of my design consist of a frame the sides and cross-piece of which have a molded outer edge or border and a l5 plain inner edge. The sides are ornamented with censers depending from garlands of Howers caught up at the corners by scrolls extending from the central portion of the hood-like cross-piece, the garlands extending zo across the hood. The hood has at its center a casket bearing a head With features that resemble those of both the human and the animal. The center or summer front has a raised bead near its outer edges formed of 25 straight portions ending at the corners in volutes, between which and extending inwardly at each of the four corners is a trefoil.

posed centrally within this border is an oval panel displaying a shepherd picture consisting ofthe gures of a man, Woman, dog, and 3o lamb. At the sides of the panel are ornameutations pierced by torches bearing streamers. Below the summer front is the gratefront, the sides of which are formed of scrolls resembling somewhat an urn in appearance. 35 Between these sides the frame is open-work, the panels intermediate the openings being ornamented. Over the openings are small hooded portions. Below the grate-front and extending forwardly is another open-work 4o frame having rounded corners and end ornamentations and a lower convex ornamented border-piece.

I claim- The ornamental design for a fireplace-front 45 as herein described and shown.
