Be it known that I, THOMAS M. DUDGEON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Crafton, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for Fireplace-Fronts, of which the followingis a full, clear, and eX- act description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part hereof, in

The leading features of the design consist of a frame, the sides and cross-piece of which have plain inner and outer borders. The

cross-piece is in the shape of a hood centrally disposed, upon which is a casket-like figure having timings-edged with scrolls extending from the lower corners. Extending centrally front these fiutings are branched V0- lutes or scrolls with foliation springing therefrom. Extending across the scrolls and down the sides of the frame and caught up at center by streamers and intermediately by the scrolls are garlands of flowers. Hung from the ends of the garlands on the sides are swinging censors, and below the censors, at the lower ends of the sides,are crossed scrolls. The center or summer front has a raised beaded line near its outer edges, formed of straight portions ending at the corners in volutes, between which and extending inwardly at each of the fon r corners is a trefoil. Disposed centrally within the border is an oval molding containing the representation of an altar, upon which is standing the figore of a child. Kneeling at the side of the altar, holding a little child, is the figure of a woman. Extending from the sides of the oval centerpiece are ornatnentations pierced by torches bearing streamers. Below the 0 summer front is the grate-front, the sides of which are formed of scrolls resembling somewhat an urn in configuration. Between the sides of the frame, the frame isfornied of openwork, the panel intermediate the openings be- 5 ingornatnented. Over the openings are small hooded portions. Below the grate'front and extending forwardly is another open-work frame having rounded corners and end ornamentations and a lower convex border-piece.

I claim- The ornamentaldesign for a fireplace-front as herein described and shown.
