WITNESSES /N VENTOH WE/Vorris, B) Z Afiolmsrot' UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM EMMET NORRIS, OF FLAT RIVER, MISSOURI.
DESIGN FOR A CLAMP'MEMBER FOR SASH-BALANCES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,499, dated November 6, 1900.
Application filed September 18, 1900. Serial No. 30,440. Term of patent 14 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM EMMET Non- RIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Flat River, in the county of St. Francois and 5 State of Missournhave in vented and produced a new and original Design for a Olainp Member for Sash-Balances; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and ex- "ct description of the same, reference being 'oqad to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
This invention relates to a new and original design for a clamp member for sash-balances, and is embodied in the novel shape or con- :5 figuration of the member, as hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawings, wherein the design is illustrated, Figure 1 is an elevation of the side of a clamp member embodying my invention.
: Fig. 2 is an edge view of the same. Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the same.
As shown in the drawings, the clamp member (designated at A) has two parallel opposite sides B and is provided with an enlarged :5 rounded or cam-shaped body 0, having projecting from the upper portion thereof a tailpiece or finger D. The tailpiece is gradually tapered from base to end, and one side thereof is formed by a curve of large radius, ;0 the opposite side or edge being formed on a curve of small radius, (indicated at E,) which merges into the edge of the body portion of the member, forming therewith a compound or ogee curve. One edge of the body portion is provided with a series of substantially parallel projections or teeth F, which extend from a point on one side at about The top of the aperature G to about the middle of the larger end or bottom of the member. The opening G is circular and of the same diameter throughout and extends through the body portion of the member eccentric to the curve of the edge thereof. The long side of the tail-that side having the curve or greater radius-from the projections F to the end of the tail is plain and without projections.
The essential features of the design are the enlarged canrshaped body portion having at one side only thereof a series of projections or teeth and having a circular opening passing therethrough eccentric to the curve of the edge of the body portion, and the tapered tail extending from the body portion, the long side of the tail from the projections to the end thereof being plain and without projections.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is
The design for a clamp member, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WVILLIAM EMMET NORRIS.
