DESIGN FOR A DISH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,743, dated October 19, 1897.
Application filed September 8, 1897. Serial NO-650,995- Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, W ILLIAM II. GRINDLEY,
a citizen of Great llritain, residing at Congloton, Cheshire, England, have invented a certain new and original Design for a Dish; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a top plan view of a dish embodying in design. Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal section, and Fig. 3 a central transverse section thereof.
The leading features of my design are as follows: The dish is oblong in shape and has a flat bottom and sloping rim. The rim is ornamented at its outer edge. The ornamentation consists of two side panels or sectors a and b and two end panels or sectors 0 and d. Each side panel has an external band consisting of a convex curve a, reversed at y and z and terminating as at m and n, where it joins the bands of the end panels to cusps 0.
\Vithin this band and parallel thereto are arranged a series of curved scallops .s', which terminate in a scroll i at each end of the panel, and which scroll is tangentto the adjacent scroll of the adjoining panel. Each end panel is provided with a similar external band, within which is arranged a similar series of curved scallops terminating in a scroll, as 0'. At the center of each end panel is a roeocoembossed ornamentation 0, consisting of a central foliate scroll p and side shell-like ornaments q and q.
\Vhat I claim as new is- The design for a dish substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscrib- 4o ing witnesses.
WILLIAM Ii. GRINDLEY.
