DESIGN FOR A MONUMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part. of Design No. 21,433, dated March 29, 1892.
Application filed March 3,1892. Serial No. 423,673. Term of patent. 3% years.
To all whom it Hilly concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM ll. PERRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Concord, in the county of Merrimac and State of New Hampshire, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for Monuments, of which the following is a specification.
Reference will be made in the following description of my design to letters and figures of reference marked upon the accompanying drawing, the particular configuration of the base, the pedestal, and the shaft being the leading features of the design, the base, being marked 1, having four vertical sides terminating at its top in an obtuse frnstum of a pyramid. (Shown at 2.) The pedestal 3 has four vertical sides, each terminating at its top in an inward eoncaved curve 4, one or more of which curved portions 4- may be provided with a raised tablet 5, as shown. The shaft (3 rises from said curved portions 4 of the pedestal and has four vertical sides terminating at its top in a four-sided dome T,the sides of which meet at an apex Said shaft 6 has ornamentation consisting on each side of the two tablets 9 and 1.0. The tablet 9 commences at the bottom of said shaft, extending upward fora short distance, and terminates in a chamfer ll, and the tablet I0 is ehainfered top and bottom, as seen at 1'2, and at the bottom of each of the foul-sides of said tablet 10 is formed a concaved are of a circle 13. The shaft b has on each of its four sides the tablet 1i, and the corners of said shaft for its entire length, excepting upon the tablets 9 and 10, are cut to a draft-line, as seen at 15, inelnding the dome 7. Each of the tablets 1% extends at its top into the concaved arc of a circle 13 of the tablet. 10, the top of said tablets 14 being formed on a convexed circle i for this purpose.
My design is further ornamented by surfaces of a different character, the surfaces indicated at A being termed rock-work, those at 13 hammered work, and those marked C are polished work.
Having described my design, hat I claim is The herein-described design for a monument, substantially as shown and set forth.
