Description

DLIUN.
H. BEESTON.
CUSPIDOR.
Patented Apr. 17; 1888.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY BEESTON, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A CUSPIDOR.
SPECIFCATON forming part of Design No.18,259, dated April 17. 1888 Appiiratinn tiled January 1T, lSeB.
To al whom z'f may concern,.-
Be it known that I', HENRY BEEsToN, ofthe ritiy and county of Philadelphia. and State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improvement iu a. Design for Ouspidors, ol" which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to euspidors, or more particularly to their design or configuration, whereby their beauty, symmetry, and utility are enhanced.
My design is suited more particularly to me talljc euspidors, though it is evident that it may be applied to those made of china, porcelain, or such material.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of a euspidor embodying my design, and Fig. 2 is a plan View ofthe same.
A is the body, and is of the usual shape. The surface of this body is made to represent beaten or hammered metal, as indicated at D in the drawings.
B is the bowl or bell'inouthed portion, and is made fluted or with slight eorrugations converging toward the center, as shown at E.
The rim C is preferably turned over into a roll, F.
Looking down upon the euspidor,we will see 'l'vrm of prent Il@ years.
the [luted or corrugated work IC radiating ,1r from the center opening and bounded by a smooth perimeter, which is bent into a circular roll, F. 3o
The essential feature of the design lies in the hammered or beaten work on the body and the iluted or Corrugated work on the bellnlouthed or bowl portion. It is evident that the beaten work might extend only part way g5 around the body; hence l do not confine my- Self to a continuous circle of beaten work on the body.
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters to Patent, is-
The design for a cuspidor, as herein shown and described, the saine consisting of the representation of beaten or hammered work upon the body and the fluted or corrugated orna- 45 mentation on the bell-mouthed top or bowl bounded by a smooth perimeter.
In testimony of which invention I hereunto set my hand.
HENRY BEESTON.
