Be it known that I. J on): G. MIJNGIJL, Jr., ofthe city of Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented and produced anew and original Design for a Font of Printing-Type, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying typographical impression, making a part thereof.

This font. is designed for the printing of ornamental head-lines, names, titles, &o., and not for general printing, and it does not coniprise the lower-case letters, but includes, beside the capital letters, numerals, punctuationmarks, and ornamental types, as hereinafter specified. ln this font all ot' the letters, &e., are of regular shape, andare ot' a width almost equal to their height. All the lilies which compose the letters are l'ull lines of nearly uniform appearance, Very little shading being given to the letters. Each of the letters B, l), E, F, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, l), R, T, U, V, \V, X, Y, and Z has a small downwardly-curving tongue extending out from the lefthand side about the center of the letter. The letter A has a cap similar to that of a capital T.

In addition to the usual letters, numerals, and punetuatiou-inarks, the font comprises vertical types, both light and heavy, which are placed after each letter in setting up a word, upper and lower borders, as shown, which are placed above and below words, &c.; one initial and two terminal types to be placed bel'orc and after cach head-line, name, title, &c., and two rosette-types, which are placed between the words constituting a head-line, name, title, (Ye.
