titles is l'nuen 0 r UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LAURENCE J. MCDONALD, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO JOHN C. GRAHAM, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR FRINGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,094, dated July 25, 1882.
Application tiled June 10 1882. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LAURENCE J. MCDON- ALD, of the city and county of Philadelphia, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented 5 and produced a new and original Design for Fringe, of which design the following is a specification.
The accompanying drawing is a side view of a section of fringe embodying and illusto trating my design, which consists in a fringe having a heading, A, to which is attached a seriesofpendants, B, of snbstantiallv-cylind rical contour, each composed of chenille threads twisted helieally about the axis of the pendant is and projecting loosely therefrom. lhe fringe is ornamented by presenting the appearance or efit'ect of a series of figures of triangular outline, having their points or apexes located alternately at the headin g and at the opposite 20 side of the fringe, said figures being formed by the use of warp-threads of two different colors, so woven that a figure of one color having its point on one side of the fringe shall be interposed between two figures of another color having their points on the opposite side of the 25 fringe, the imaginarylines of the inclined sides of the figures being thus defined by the presence of ditl'erent quantities of threads of each color in the several pendants, through which said imaginary lines extend. 0
It is not material in the design whether the pendants be plain or striped, so long as the efi'ect ot' a. series of triangular figures alternately differing in predominating color is preserved. 5
I claim- A design for fringe, consisting of a. heading and a series of chenille pendants ornamented by figures of triangular outline, of alternatelydift'erent colors and arranged in alternately-re 4o versed positions, substantially as set forth.
LAURENCE J. MCDONALD.
