DESIGN FOR FRINGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,649, dated January 3, 1882.
Application filed November 3, 1881. Term of patent 14 years.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN G. GRAHAM, of the city and county of Philadelphia, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Fringe, of which design the following is a specification.
The accompanying drawing is a side view of a section of fringe embodying and illustrating my design, which consists in a fringe having a flat tape or gimp heading, A, to which is attached at intervals :1 series of pendants, B, of substantially cylindrical contour, each composed of chenille threads twisted helically about the axis of the pendant and projecting loosely therefrom. The pendants B, which may be of any desired color, either uniform in tint or shaded or striped, are each ornamented by an end swell, tuft, or enlargement, O,formed of threads projecting to a greater extent than do those of the body of the pendant, and by preference of color dilferent therefrom.
The heading A may, if desired, he ornamented by a cord, a, woven into its fabric, so as to present a raised pattern upon its surface.
I claim- Adesign for fringe, consisting of a flat tape or gimp heading and a series of pendants formed of loosely-projecting chenille threads, and ornamented by end swells, tufts, or enlargements formed of threads projecting beyond the contour of the body of the pendants, substantially as set forth.
JOHN C. GRAHAM.
