DESlGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,486, dated September 20, 1881.
Application led August 9,1881. Terni of patent B years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY HORN, of East Orange, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and original 5 Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuraro tion of figures hereinafter more fully described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having niy new design. The ligure A consists of open roses and 15 smaller circular ilowers surrounded by leaves somewhat resembling those of the geranium, and having a branch of fern projecting from one portion. From the iigure A extends the branch C, with leaves and circular iiowers 2o thereon; also the branches c and b growing out of one stern and bearing leaves and circular flowers. The branch h projects from the iigure A, bearing on it circular flowers and leaves, and runs obliquely across the design,
25 having smaller twigs or branches projecting The figure m is a vine, which starts near .the lower part of the figure A,to the right ot' branch g, and which, after running solne distance downward toward branch d, is forked, its
:branches bending sharply upward, as shown at the right of the photograph. This vine m bears rosette-like flowers and pointed leaves.
The figure B is a vine bearing several dis tinct leafy clusters upon it. The effect of the design is that of a central group of tlowers and leaves, around which grow the leafy and tlowering vines and branches already described.
