'l My invention has for its object to furnish an improved instrument for cleaning lamp-chimneys, simple in construction,fc'cctive in operation, andv which can be. furnished ata'triing expense. D are two rubber disks, which are secured to the end of the handle by a screw, O, passing through th'.A said disks, and screwing itothe, end of the handle A. O'r the said disks may be secured to the end of the said handle in any other convenient and substantial manner. 2

If desired, the disks muy be secured against being injured by the action of the screw lumi by, a washer, grof leather or other suitable material that possesses ,therequisite elasticity, and one or any other. desire@` .The disks may be attached tothe end of the 'handle A, with their planes at right angles to or parallel. with the axis of the handle A, as shown in iig. 2'. - In using thc'instrninent, itis inserted in the basent' the chimney', and pushed into its upper cach-then, by inter-ting the chimney, the requisite quantity ofrattr may be poured into it through the opening u't itsibasc.

The chimney may then he turned flown upon its side, allowing the water to settle in its bulge, and the* cleaner be moved back and forth until all parts of the inner surface of the chimney' be perfectly clean.
