IMPROVED SELF-WATERING- SCRUBER.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part cf the same.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, A. D. GRANGER, of Talbotton, in the county of Talbot, and Stateof Georgia, have invented a new andimproved SellV-aterin g scrubbing Brush; and I doV hereby declare that the following is a'. full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specicatiom in which- Figure 1 is a vertical cross-section of my improved scrubbing-brush, taken through the line z x, iig. 2.

Figure 2 is a front view of the same, part of the box being broken away to show the construction.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

My invention has for its object to furnish a simple,

convenient, and effective scrubbingbrush,-which shall beso constructed as to discha'rge water upon the floor while being used; and y It consists in the scrubbing-blush, constructed and arranged as hereinafter more fully described.

A is the water-box, which I prefer to make hoppershaped, as shown in iigs. 1 and 2.

The bottom of the box A is formed of two or more longitudinal strips, B, alternating with threeor more strips of rubber, C, the lower edges of which project below the bottom ot' the box A, and thee-nds of which project beyond the ends of said box,as shown in figs. 1 and 2.

The lower parts a, of the sides of the box A, are made vertical and detachable, and are secured in place, clamping the bars or strips B and the rubber strips C between them, and to the end-pieces of the said box,

by bolts D passing through the lower part of the box A and-through the said parts a1 of said box.

The strips B and parts avmayhe still further secured in place by screws passing through the ends of the said pieces andscrewinginto the' edges of the end parts of the box A. This construction enables the rnbberstrips C to be conveniently detached and replaced when worn.

The projection of the ends of the rubber strips 1G beyond the ends of the box A, enables the floor to be scrubbed close up to the walls, and without the dan- .i ger of being injured by the wood-work of the brush coming in contact with said walls.

Small holes are formed through the strips B, to allow the water to escape gradually to the door while the brush is being used.

a2 is the cover of the box A, which is screwed fast to the top of said box, and through which is formed a number of holes, so that when the brush is immersed in a vessel of water, the water may flow through said holes, and till the b ox A.

The brush may be made of any convenient size, such a size as will enableithebox A to contain about a gallon of water, is suggested as a convenient one for ordnary pulposes. Y
