Description
WESLEY FARRINGTON, F MORRISAN-IIA, NEW YORK.
' Letters Patent N 92,026, dated June 29, 1869.
IMPROVE!) :MAT` AND SCRAPER.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same,
To all whom Ait may concern Be it known that IWEsLEY FARRINGTON, of Morrisania, in the county of lVestchester, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful article,
called a Combined` Mat and` Sc1'aper;.and I do bercby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the article, showing the position of the same when in readiness to be used as a scraper, and g Figure 2, ot the same, when in position to be used as a brush or mat.
This article consists of two perpendicular standards, A A, between which, pivoted to them at its lower end, swings a plate, B, with a scraper, C, attached to its top.
Fasteued to the inside of this plate is a coarse, stiff brush, D. i
t .the lower end of the plate is an attachment, E, made with an upper curved side, and well adapted to adjust itself to the toe of a foot, to' assist lin raising the plato from the position, as shown in fig. 2, to that ot' iig. 1.'
The operation of the above combined mat and scraper is as follows:
The plate B swings between the standards A A by means of' pivots at F F, and is vkept in vthe inclined position indicated in fig. 1, 'by means of small projections G G, attached to the plate, which strike the standards and preyent the plate from falling back. In this position, it can be used as a scraper. Ata slight `tap cf the foot, the plate falls down with vthe brush uppermost, as in iig. 2, and is held in this position by means of two small projections, H H, attached to the standards. It can now be used as a Ybrush or mat.
Should it be necessary to bring the plate back'to the position, as in fig. 1, a slight pressurel of the foot upon the curved attachment Ev will produce the desired result.
Claim.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The arrangement of plate B, pivoted to the standards A A,'and' having scraper U, brush or mat D, and tbot-attachment E, constructed as herein described, for the purpose set forth. WESLEY FARRINGTON.
