SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 780,876, dated January 24, 1905. Application filed July Z, 1904. Serial No. 215,054.

Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. DUNLAP, a

citizen ofthe United States, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented or discovered certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Washtubs, of which. improvements the following is a specification.

As metallic washtubs are necessarily formed with a bead or rim projecting outwardly from their upper edges, considerable difficulty is encountered in securing wringers tothe tubs. To this end bearing-pieces have been provided which are secured to the tub immediately below the rim', said pieces being of a thickness which combined. with the thickness of the wall of the tub equals or approximately equals'the transverse diameter or thicknessof the rim.

The object of the present inventionis to provide such a bearing-piece as will be capable of being easily attached to and removed from the tubs without changing the usual construction of the latter.

In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figure l is a view in elevation of the upper portion of a tub having my improved bearing piece or block attached thereto. a plane indicated by the line II II, Fig. l. I-n the practice of my invention the tub l is constructed in the usual or any suitable manner and with a rim or bead 2 around its upper edge. Immediately below this rim or bead are formed openings Sithrough the wall of the tub for the passage of supporting-fingers I on the bearing-pieceblock. is preferred to form it of a transversely-corrugated strip of metal 5, to the rear wall of which are vsecured the supporting-fingers 4. It is characteristic of my improvement that the bearing-pieces can be easily and quickly placed in position and that these bearingpieces can be readily applied to tubs by merely punching holes through thewalls below the rims.

I claim herein as my Inventioning against the inner surfaces of the wall of 1. The cbmbination of a tubprovided with i openings through its side wall and a bearingpiece provided with supporting-lingers adapted to pass through said openings and engage the side wall of the tub, substantially as set forth.

2. The combination of a tub provided with openings through its side wall and a bearingpiece provided with supporting-fingers adapted to pass through said openings and having their ends bent to bear against the inner surface of the wall of the tub, substantially as set forth.

3. The combination of a tub provided with openings through its side wall and a bearingpiece provided with supporting-fingers adapted to pass through said openings and having their ends bent outwardly so as to bear upon the rim of the tub, substantially as set forth.
