UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM ALBERT SENTMAN, OF BRITTON, DAKOTA TERRITORY.
NOSE-PROTECTOR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Batters Patent No. 364,733, dated June 14, 1887.
Application filed April 19, 1887.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM ALBERT SENT- MAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Britton, in the county of Marshall, Dakota Territory, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Nose Warmers or Protectors,
of which the following is a specification.
Myinvention relates to a novel nose warmer or protector; and it consists of a wire or other pliableframe adapted in shape to fit the nose, the said frame being covered by suitable nonconducting material and having ears or extensions to cover the checks of the wearer, the said protector being held in place by an elastic band to pass around the head, or any other suitable means.
In the drawings hereto annexed, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device. Fig. 2is a perspective view of the wire frame.
Referring to the drawings by letter, A designates the frame for the nose, comprising the front central wire, B, the bottom or lower wires, O, and the side or rear wires, D D, all of the said parts being formed of a single piece of wire looped and suitably fastened at the joints where two wires cross each other. On the outside of the said frame is placed a covering, E, of velvet or similar material, and
on the inner side is placed a lining of flannel or other suitable fabric adapted to exclude the cold, the said covering or facing and lin- Serial No. 235,394. (No model.)
interfered with, the lower end or side of the protector being open and the outer sides only being covered, as shown; also, the frame of the protector being of pliable material, it will be understood that the same may be accurately adjusted to the shape of the nose of the wearer.
I wish it further understood that I do not limit myself strictly to the details of construction as herein shown and described, as I may make various changes therein without departing from the spirit and intent of the invention.
I may form the frame of the protector of any suitable flexible or pliable material and may cover the device in any preferred manner; and, further, I may substitute for the elastic band to hold the device in place any othersuitable means.
Having now described my invention, what I claim is l. A nose-protector having the wire frame A, comprising the central front piece, 13, the bottom pieces, 0, diverging therefrom, and the rear side pieces, D, all arranged in the form herein set forth and covered by a suit able fabric, substantially as described.
2. A nose-protector having the wire frame A, comprising the central front piece, B, the bottom pieces, 0, diverging therefrom, and the .rear side pieces, D, constructed from a single piece of wire and arranged in the form herehaving the side extensions, E, substantially as described. I In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
' WILLIAM ALBERT SENTMAN.
