ADDISON M. OSBORN, OF GIRARD, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN LOOPS FOR HARNESS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 118,046, dated August l5, 1871.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADDISON M. OSBORN, of Girard, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Haine-Strap Loop 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part oi' this speciiication, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved loop as attached to a haine-strap. Fig. 2 is a detail sectional view of the same.
Similar letters of'reference indicate corresponding parts.
My invention has for its object to furnish an improved loop for haine-straps, which shall be so constructed as to hold the strap securely in place without any sewing, and which shall, at the same time, be simple in con struction, convenient in use, and inexpensive in manufacture; and it consists in the triple loop, constructed as hereinaiter more fully described.
A B O is the loop, the central part B of which is made larger at the end toward the buckle than at the other to receive the turned-over end of the strap D, which is doubled to form a loop to receive the buckle E. Upon the lower Wall ofthe larger end of thev loop B is formed a projection,
or to it is attached a pin, b', which projects inward a sufficient distance to pass through the end part of the strap D, as shown in Fig. 2. Upon the under side of the central loop B, at its smaller end, is formed a loop A, and upon its outer side, at its larger end, is formed a loop, C.
In applying the loop, the end of the strap D that is turned or doubled over to receive the buckle E is passed into the larger end ofthe loop B, and a hole formed in it is passed over the pin or projection b. The other end of the strap is passed through the loop B and passed through the ring or eye of one haine. The strap D is then passed through the lower loop A, through the ring or eye of the other llame, is buckled into the buckle, and its end is passed through the outer loop O, as shown in Fig. I, the loop A B O thus confining the strap in place without any sewing.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The triple metallic loop A B O, constructed substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
ADDISON M. OSBORN.
