UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SIMON OPPENIIEIMER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN SUSPNDERIBUKLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 15194229 dated May 26, 1874 application liled December 6, 1873,
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SIMON OPPENHEIMER., of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia. and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certainl new and useful Improvements in Suspender-Buckles; and I do hereby declare the tollowin g to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use it, reference being had to the aecompanying drawings, which forni part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a front view of my invention. Fig. 2 is a .ifertical transverse section of the same.
This invention has relation to suspenderbuckles; and it consists in providing both the buckle-plate and pivoted stock with teeth projeeting inwardly toward each other, so as to produce a more secure fastening than is obtained from the use of teeth on the stock only. It also consists in forming said teeth by punching V-shaped clefts or slots inthe buckle and stock plates, and striking up the metal included therein.
Referring to the drawing, A designates the buckle-plate, having' ears B for the reception of the stocks C C', designed, respectively, for holding the shoulder and button straps, which are allowed to project through the transverse slots a a ofthe buckle-plate. D D represent, respectively, the teeth of thebuckle-l'llate and stocks formed by punching V-shapcd clefts or slots in the plates, and striking' up the included metal. The plate-teeth project toward the stocks, and vice versa. Each stock has but one tooth, which lies between the two opposing teeth of the buckle-plate, as shown.
I claim- As a new article of manufacture, a suspenderbuckle consisting of the slotted plate A and pivoted stocks O C, said plate and stocks having angular teeth D Dl punched and struck up the metal, as shown, the said teeth being so located, relatively, that those ofthe stocks may fall between those of the plate when the buckle is locked.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I hc ve hereunto set my hand this 19th day Of November, 1873.
SIMON OPPENHEIMER.
