Abstract
La presente invencion proporciona un proceso para refinar propilenglicol de base biologica en el que se separan las impurezas que tienen puntos de ebullicion cercanos al del propilenglicol. En este proceso, compuestos oleofilicos C5-C20, alcanos C5-C20 y/o compuestos de cetona oleofilica C4-C20 son sometidos a azeotropismo como un agente azeotropico con el propilenglicol de base biologica para obtener un azeotropo que contiene propilenglicol. Posteriormente el agente azeotropico en el azeotropo se separa para obtener un propilenglicol crudo que se purifica adicionalmente para obtener propilenglicol.
