Claims (18)
- 적어도 일부에 평탄한 면형상의 발광층을 갖는 발광 소자로서,적어도 상기 발광층의 평탄부의 주연부에 상기 발광층의 평탄부에 대하여 경사진 경사 반사면을 갖고, 상기 발광층 상에서 이 경사 반사면으로 둘러싸인 영역에 광을 도파하는 도파층이 충전되며, 이 광도파층이 경사 반사면에 의해 광학적으로 분리되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 발광 소자.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 도파층이 상기 발광층의 평탄부를 이루는 면으로부터 멀어짐에 따라, 그 단면 형상의 폭이 넓어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 발광 소자.
- 기판 상에 매트릭스 형상으로 배치한 복수의 화소를 구성하는 발광 소자를 구비하는 표시 장치로서,상기 발광 소자는 적어도 일부에 평탄한 면형상의 발광층을 갖는 발광 소자이며, 적어도 이 발광층의 평탄부의 주연부에 상기 발광층의 평탄부에 대하여 경사진 경사 반사면을 갖고, 상기 발광층 상에서 이 경사 반사면으로 둘러싸인 영역에 광을 도파하는 도파층이 충전되며, 이 도파층이 화소마다 광학적으로 분리되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 경사 반사면은 상기 기판 상에 형성된 돌기의 경사면에 형성되고, 이 돌기는 상기 기판면으로부터 멀어짐에 따라 그 단면 형상의 폭이 좁아지는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 도파층은 상기 기판면으로부터 멀어짐에 따라 폭이 넓어지는 단면 형상을 갖고, 상기 경사 반사면의 상기 발광층의 평탄부로부터의 높이가 상기 도파층의 최대 높이보다도 높은 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 도파층이 화소마다 분리된 상태에서 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 도파층의 상기 발광층의 평탄부로부터의 높이가 상기 경사 반사면으로 둘러싸인 영역의 중심부에서 최소가 되고, 상기 경사 반사면에 근접할수록 높아지는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 도파층의 상기 발광층의 평탄부로부터의 높이가 상기 경사 반사면으로 둘러싸인 영역의 중심부에서 최대가 되는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 발광 소자가 상기 기판측으로부터 광 반사면으로서 기능하는 반사 전극과, 유기막으로 이루어지는 발광층과, 투명 전극을 적층한 유기 발광 다이오드인 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제9항에 있어서,상기 도파층의 굴절율이 공기보다도 높고, 상기 투명 전극보다도 낮은 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제9항에 있어서,상기 경사 반사면이 도전성의 막으로 이루어지며, 상기 투명 전극과 전기적으로 접속되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제9항에 있어서,상기 경사 반사면이 도전성의 막으로 이루어지며, 상기 반사 전극과 전기적으로 접속되어 있거나, 또는 상기 반사 전극의 기능을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제9항에 있어서,가시광에 대하여 투명하고 가스 배리어성을 갖는 밀봉 부재를 상기 기판의 발광층 형성면측에 배치하며, 이 밀봉 부재와 상기 도파층과의 사이에 실질적으로 공기와 동일한 굴절율의 간극을 형성한 상태에서 상기 기판과 상기 밀봉 부재를 접착하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제4항에 있어서,화소를 복수의 영역으로 분리하는 돌기를 갖고, 이 돌기의 경사면에 경사 반사면을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제14항에 있어서,상기 화소를 복수의 영역으로 분리하는 돌기가 상기 반사 전극 상에 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제9항에 있어서,상기 도파층은 그 일부가 가스 배리어성을 갖는 투명한 무기막으로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제9항에 있어서,상기 도파층에 안료를 혼입 분산한 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
- 제8항에 있어서,상기 도파층에 청색의 광을 녹색, 또는 적색의 광으로 변환하는, 형광 색소로 이루어지는 색 변환층을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시 장치.
