- 무기 구조 담체(inorganic structural carrier)에 담지된 제 1의 촉매와 상기 제 1 촉매와는 다른 제 2 촉매를 포함하는 2 이상의 배기가스 정화 촉매를 포함하는 자동차용 배기가스 정화 장치에 사용되는 촉매계로서,상기 제 1 촉매는, 배기가스 통로에 배치되었을 때, 상류측에 위치하는 무기 구조 담체의 일부에 담지되어 있고;반면에, 상기 제 2 촉매는 배기가스 통로에 배치되었을 때, 하류측에 위치하는 무기 구조 담체의 일부에 담지되어 있으며;결정 구조에 파이로클로르 상(pyrochlore phase)을 가진 세륨-지르코늄계 복합 산화물(A)을 포함하고;상기 제 1 촉매는, 파이로클로르 상을 포함하지 않는, 등축정계(cubic crystal) 결정구조 및/또는 정방정계(tetragonal) 결정구조를 가진 세륨-지르코늄계 복합 산화물(A')인 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 제 1 촉매와 제 2 촉매는 인접하여 배열되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 제 1 촉매와 제 2 촉매는 질소산화물(NOx)을 탄화수소(HC)나 일산화탄소(CO) 또는 수소(H2)에 의해 환원시키는 기능을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.

- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 세륨-지르코늄 복합 산화물(A)의 세륨과 지르코늄은 산화물 환산의 몰비 기준으로 CeO2/(ZrO2+CeO2)=1/9 ~ 9/1의 비율로 함유되는 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 세륨-지르코늄 복합 산화물(A)은 평균 입경이 1 ~ 100 μm일 때에 비표면적이 20 m2/g 이하인 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 제 2 촉매는 백금, 팔라듐, 또는 로듐으로부터 선택되는 한 종류 이상의 활성 금속종(B)을 더 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 7 항에 있어서, 상기 활성 금속종(B)은 지르코니아(zirconia), 세륨-지르코늄 복합 산화물, 세리아(ceria), γ-Al2O3, 또는 란탄이 첨가된 γ-Al2O3로부터 선택되는 한 종류 이상을 포함하고 있는 내열성 무기 산화물(C)에 담지되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 8 항에 있어서, 상기 내열성 무기 산화물(C)이 란탄-첨가 γ-Al2O3로 구성되어 있을 때, 상기 활성 금속종(B)은 백금을 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 무기 구조 담체는 허니콤(honeycomb) 구조(D)인 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 10 항에 있어서, 상기 제 2 촉매는 허니콤 구조(D) 상에 적어도 2층으로 피복되어 있고, 세륨-지르코늄 복합 산화물(A)은 하층에 담지되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 10 항에 있어서, 상기 허니콤 구조(D)는 10 ~ 1500 cell/inch2의 셀 밀도를 가진 플로우-쓰로우(flow-through) 형의 담체인 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 1 항 내지 제 12 항 중 어느 하나에 있어서, 상기 제 2 촉매의 각 성분은, 허니콤 구조(D)의 단위 체적을 기준으로, 5.0 ~ 200 g/L의 세륨-지르코늄계 복합 산화물(A), 0.01 ~ 20 g/L의 활성 금속종(B), 및 1 ~ 300 g/L의 내열성 무기 산화물(C)인 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 삭제
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 세륨-지르코늄계 복합 산화물(A')의 비표면적이 10 ~ 300 m2/g인 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 제 1 촉매는 백금, 팔라듐, 또는 로듐으로부터 선택되는 한 종류 이상의 활성 금속종(B)을 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 16 항에 있어서, 상기 활성 금속종(B)은 지르코니아, γ- Al2O3, 또는 란탄이 첨가된 γ- Al2O3로부터 선택되는 한 종류 이상을 포함하는 내열성 무기 산화물(C)에 담지되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 1 항 및 제 15 항 내지 제 17 항 중 어느 하나에 있어서, 상기 제 1 촉매의 각 성분은, 허니콤 구조(D)의 단위 체적을 기준으로, 5.0 ~ 200 g/L의 세륨-지르코늄계 복합 산화물(A'), 0.01 ~ 20 g/L의 활성 금속종(B), 및 1 ~ 300 g/L의 내열성 무기 산화물(C)인 것을 특징으로 하는 촉매계.
- 제 1 항에 따른 촉매계를 사용하는 것으로 구성된 자동차용 배기가스 정화 장치.
- 제 19 항에 따른 자동차용 배기가스 정화 장치를 사용하고, 내연기관의 배기가스가 배기가스 통로의 상류측 및 하류측의 적어도 2 곳에 배치된 촉매에 연속하여 접촉되도록 하는 것에 의해, 배기가스에 포함되어 있는 질소산화물(NOx)을 분해시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 배기가스 정화 방법.
- 제 20 항에 있어서, 상기 질소산화물(NOx)은, 탄화수소(HC) 또는 일산화탄소(CO)에서 유래되는, 증기 개질 반응(steam reforming reaction) 또는 수성 가스 이동 반응(water gas shift reaction)에 의해 생성된, 수소(H2)에 의해 환원되는 것을 특징으로 하는 배기가스 정화 방법.
- 제 20 항에 있어서, 상기 내연기관은 가솔린 엔진인 것을 특징으로 하는 배기가스 정화 방법.
