Claims (46)
- 공통의 축을 따라 말단끼리 겹겹이 쌓여진 복수의 모듈을 포함하며, 상기 복수의 모듈 각각은 제 1말단(end)으로부터 상기 제 1말단의 반대편에 위치한 제 2말단으로 통과하는 가스 스트림(stream) 플로우(flow)의 통로를 한정하는 내부 공간을 갖는 덮개(shell) 및 축을 따라 통과하는 가스 스트림에 화학적, 열적 또는 물리적인 변화를 유효하게 하는 상기 내부공간에 포함된 프로세싱 코어(processing core)를 포함하고,상기 복수의 모듈 각각은 상기 덮개의 제 1말단 또는 제 2말단 중 어느 하나에 위치한 환형 가장자리(lip) 및 상기 덮개의 반대쪽 말단에 위치한 환형 오목부를 포함하며, 이때 상기 한 모듈의 환형 가장자리는 다른 모듈의 환형 오목부로 수용 가능한,탄화수소 연료를 고수소 가스로 전화시키는 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 복수의 모듈이 원통형인 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.

- 제 1항에 있어서, 적어도 하나의 상기 모듈이 덮개와 각각의 프로세싱 코어 사이에 배치된 열 절연물질로 구성된 환형 층(layer)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 적어도 하나의 상기 모듈이 상기 덮개의 제 1말단에 설치된 다공성 지지체 부재(porous support member)를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 적어도 하나의 상기 모듈이 상기 덮개의 제 2말단에 설치된 다공성 지지체 부재를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 6항에 있어서, 상기 다공성 지지체 부재가 체(screen), 그물(mesh), 구멍난 평판 및 다공성 소결 평판(porous sintered plate)으로 이루어진 군에서 선택되는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 복수의 상기 모듈들이 부분 산화 촉매(partial oxidation catalyst)를 포함하는 프로세싱 코어를 갖는 제 1 모듈을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 8항에 있어서, 상기 제 1 모듈이 증기 개질 촉매(steam reforming catalyst)를 추가로 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 8항에 있어서, 상기 부분 산화 촉매가 백금(platinum), 팔라듐(palladium), 로듐(rhodium), 루테늄(ruthenium), 니켈(nickel), 코발트(cobalt) 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 금속을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 9항에 있어서, 상기 증기 개질 촉매가 백금(platinum), 팔라듐(palladium), 로듐(rhodium), 루테늄(ruthenium), 이리듐(iridium), 니켈(nickel), 포타슘(potassium) 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 금속을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 10항에 있어서, 상기 부분 산화 촉매의 금속이 마그네시아(magnesia), 알루미나(alumina), 티타니아(titania), 지르코니아(zirconia) 및 실리카(silica)로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 물질상에 지지되는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 11항에 있어서, 상기 증기 개질 촉매의 금속이 마그네시아(magnesia), 알루미나(alumina), 실리카(silica), 지르코니아(zirconia) 및 마그네슘 알루미네이트(magnesium aluminate)로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 물질상에 지지되는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 복수의 모듈들이 가스 스트림을 냉각시키는 일차 열 교환기를 포함하는 프로세싱 코어를 갖는 제 2 모듈을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하 는 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 복수의 모듈들이 탈황화제를 포함하는 프로세싱 코어를 갖는 제 3 모듈을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 15항에 있어서, 상기 탈황화제가 아연산화물(zinc oxide)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 상기 복수의 모듈들이 통과하는 가스 스트림 성분을 혼합하는 불활성(inert) 물질을 포함하는 프로세싱 코어를 갖는 제 4 모듈을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 17항에 있어서, 상기 불활성 물질이 세라믹 비드를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 17항에 있어서, 상기 제 4 모듈은 가스 스트림에 물을 주입시키기 위하여 공급물 노즐을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 복수의 상기 모듈들이 물 가스 전환 촉매층(water gas shift catalyst bed); 및 전환 반응 온도범위를 유지시키기 위하여 상기 물 가스 전환 촉매층 내부에 위치한 열 교환기를 포함하는 프로세싱 코어를 갖는 제 5 모듈을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 20항에 있어서, 상기 물 가스 전환촉매가 저온 물 가스 전환촉매인 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 21항에 있어서, 상기 저온 물 가스 전환촉매가 구리(copper), 구리 산화물(copper oxide), 아연(zinc), 백금(platinum), 레늄(rhenium), 팔라듐(palladium), 로듐(rhodium) 및 금(gold)으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 물질을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 20항에 있어서, 상기 물 가스 전환촉매가 고온 물 가스 전환촉매인 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 23항에 있어서, 상기 고온 물 가스 전환촉매가 산화제이철(ferric oxide), 크롬 산화물(chromic oxide), 구리(copper), 철 실리사이드(iron silicide), 백금(platinum) 및 팔라듐(palladium)으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 물질을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 복수의 상기 모듈들이 가스 스트림을 냉각시키는 이차 열 교환기를 포함하는 프로세싱 코어를 갖는 제 6 모듈을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하 는 장치.
- 제 1항에 있어서, 복수의 상기 모듈들이 일산화탄소 산화 촉매층; 및 산화 반응 온도범위를 유지시키고 상기 일산화탄소 산화 촉매층 내부에 위치한 열 교환기를 포함하는 프로세싱 코어를 갖는 제 7 모듈을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.

- 제 26항에 있어서, 상기 일산화탄소 산화 촉매층이 백금(platinum), 팔라듐(palladium), 철(iron), 크롬(chromium), 망간(manganese), 산화철(iron oxide), 크롬 산화물(chromium oxide), 망간 산화물(manganese oxide), 루테늄(ruthenium), 팔라듐(palladium), 금(gold) 및 이들의 조합으로 이루어진 군에서 선택된 물질을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 장치.

- 공통의 축을 따라 말단끼리 겹겹이 쌓여진 복수의 모듈을 보유한 제1항에 따른 탄화수소 연료를 고수소 가스로 전화시키는 장치를 제공하는 단계; 및각각의 모듈에 탄화수소 원료를 축방향으로 연속적으로 통과시켜 고수소 가스를 제조하는 단계를 포함하는, 탄화수소 원료를 고수소 가스로 전화시키는 방법.
- 제 31항에 있어서, 상기 복수의 모듈들은탄화수소 원료를 부분 산화 및 증기 개질시켜 제 1 모듈 유출물을 생성시키는 제 1 모듈;상기 제 1 모듈 유출물을 냉각시켜 제 2 모듈 유출물을 생성시키는 제 2 모듈;상기 제 2 모듈 유출물을 탈황화시켜 제 3 모듈 유출물을 생성시키는 제 3 모듈;상기 제 3 모듈 유출물에 물을 혼합하여 제 4 모듈 유출물을 생성시키는 제 4 모듈;상기 제 4 모듈 유출물에 포함된 물과 일산화탄소를 반응시켜 감소된 일산화탄소 농도를 갖는 제 5 모듈 유출물을 생성시키는 제 5 모듈;상기 제 5 모듈 유출물을 냉각시켜 제 6 모듈 유출물을 생성시키는 제 6 모듈; 및적어도 일부의 일산화탄소를 산화시켜 고수소 가스를 생성시키는 제 7 모듈을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 32항에 있어서, 상기 탄화수소 연료가 제 2 모듈, 제 5 모듈, 제 6 모듈, 제 7 모듈 및 이들의 조합에 의해 예열될 수 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 32항에 있어서, 상기 제 1 모듈이 550℃ 내지 900℃ 온도범위에서 작동하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 32항에 있어서, 상기 제 2 모듈 유출물의 온도가 200℃ 내지 600℃인 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 32항에 있어서, 상기 제 5 모듈이 150℃ 내지 400℃ 온도범위에서 작동하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 32항에 있어서, 상기 제 5 모듈 유출물이 90℃ 내지 150℃의 온도로 냉각되는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 32항에 있어서, 상기 제 7 모듈이 90℃ 내지 150℃ 온도에서 작동하는 것을 특징을 하는 방법.
- 제 31항에 있어서, 상기 복수의 모듈들은탄화수소 원료를 부분 산화 및 증기 개질시켜 제 1 모듈 유출물을 생성시키는 제 1 모듈;상기 제 1 모듈 유출물을 냉각시켜 제 2 모듈 유출물을 생성시키는 제 2 모듈;상기 제 2 모듈 유출물을 탈황화시켜 제 3 모듈 유출물을 생성시키는 제 3 모듈;상기 제 3 모듈 유출물에 포함된 물과 일산화탄소를 반응시켜 감소된 일산화탄소 농도를 갖는 제 4 모듈 유출물을 생성시키는 제 4 모듈;상기 제 4 모듈 유출물을 냉각시켜 제 5 모듈 유출물을 생성시키는 제 5 모듈; 및적어도 일부의 일산화탄소를 산화시켜 고수소 가스를 생성시키는 제 6 모듈을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 39항에 있어서, 상기 탄화수소 연료가 제 2 모듈, 제 4 모듈, 제 5 모듈, 제 6 모듈 및 이들의 조합에 의해 예열될 수 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 39항에 있어서, 상기 제 1 모듈이 550℃ 내지 900℃ 온도범위에서 작동하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 39항에 있어서, 상기 제 2 모듈 유출물의 온도가 200℃ 내지 600℃인 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 39항에 있어서, 상기 제 4 모듈이 150℃ 내지 400℃ 온도범위에서 작동하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 39항에 있어서, 상기 제 4 모듈 유출물이 90℃ 내지 150℃의 온도로 냉각되는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 39항에 있어서, 상기 제 6 모듈이 90℃ 내지 150℃ 온도에서 작동하는 것을 특징을 하는 방법.
- 제 39항에 있어서, 상기 고수소 가스가 50 ppm 이하의 일산화탄소를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
