Abstract
Description
Claims (8)
- 한 쌍의 기판 사이에 액정층을 유지하여 이루어지고, 하나의 도트 영역 내에 투과 표시를 행하는 투과 표시 영역과, 반사 표시를 행하는 반사 표시 영역을 구비하여 이루어지는 액정 표시 장치로서,상기 액정층은 유전 이방성이 부(負)인 액정으로 이루어지고,상기 한 쌍의 기판 중 적어도 한쪽 기판과 상기 액정층 사이에, 상기 반사 표시 영역과 상기 투과 표시 영역에서 상기 액정층의 층 두께를 다르게 하는 액정층 두께 조정층이 마련되고, 또한, 상기 액정층 두께 조정층은 상기 투과 표시 영역과 상기 반사 표시 영역의 경계 부근에 경사면을 갖고,상기 하나의 도트 영역내에는 적어도 두개의 상기 투과 표시 영역이 배치되고,상기 하나의 도트 영역내에서 인접하는 상기 투과 표시 영역 중 제 1 투과 표시 영역에 있어서, 상기 한쪽 기판에는 해당 액정층 두께 조정층의 상기 경사면상에 배향 규제 수단이 형성되고,상기 하나의 도트 영역내에서 인접하는 상기 투과 표시 영역 중 제 2 투과 표시 영역에 있어서, 다른쪽의 상기 기판에는 상기 액정층 두께 조정층의 상기 경사면에 대응하는 부분에 상기 배향 규제 수단이 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 한 쌍의 기판의 내면 쪽에는 상기 액정을 구동하기 위한 전극이 각각 마련되고,상기 한쪽 기판에 마련된 상기 배향 규제 수단으로서, 상기 전극에는 슬릿 형상의 개구부가 형성되어 이루어지며,상기 다른쪽 기판에 마련된 상기 배향 규제 수단으로서, 상기 전극에 슬릿 형상의 개구부 또는 상기 기판상에 볼록부가 형성되어 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 제 1 투과 표시 영역에 있어서, 상기 다른쪽 기판에는 상기 제 1 투과 표시 영역의 대략 중앙부에 상기 배향 규제 수단이 마련되어 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 3 항에 있어서,상기 제 1 투과 표시 영역의 대략 중앙부에 마련된 상기 배향 규제 수단으로서, 상기 전극에 슬릿 형상의 개구부 또는 상기 기판상에 볼록부가 형성되어 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 제 2 투과 표시 영역에 있어서,상기 한쪽 기판에는 상기 제 2 투과 표시 영역의 대략 중앙부에 상기 배향 규제 수단이 마련되어 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 제 2 투과 표시 영역의 대략 중앙부에 마련된 상기 배향 규제 수단으로서, 상기 전극에 슬릿 형상의 개구부 또는 상기 기판상에 볼록부가 형성되어 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제 1 항 또는 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 각 투과 표시 영역에 있어서, 상기 액정의 액정 분자는 상기 투과 표시 영역의 상기 중앙부로부터 바깥쪽으로 향해 경사지게 배향되고,상기 한쪽 기판을 기준으로 한 상기 액정 분자의 경사지는 방향은 상기 제 1 투과 표시 영역과 상기 제 2 투과 표시 영역에서 역방향의 관계로 되고,상기 반사 표시 영역에 있어서, 상기 액정 분자의 배향 방향은 일축인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 청구항 1 또는 2에 기재된 액정 표시 장치를 구비한 것을 특징으로 하는 전자 기기.
