Abstract
Description
Claims (2)
- 제1 기판과 제2 기판 사이에 액정조성물이 삽입되고, 상기 제1 기판에는, 매트릭스 형태로 배치된 복수의 주사 전극과 신호 전극에 의해 복수의 화소부가 구성되고, 상기 화소부에는 트랜지스터 소자가 형성되며, 상기 액정조성물의 배향 상태와 편향 수단에 의해 입사광의 투과율 또는 반사율을 변조할 수 있는 액티브 매트릭스형 액정 표시 장치에 있어서,상기 트랜지스터 소자에는 화소 전극이 접속되고,상기 화소 전극과 상기 복수의 주사 전극 중의 적어도 하나의 주사 전극은, 기판면에 거의 평행한 전계를 인가하도록 배치되어, 상기 양 전극에 의해 상기 액정 조성물층의 액정 분자의 장축 방향을 기판면과 거의 평행을 유지하면서 동작할 수 있고,상기 트랜지스터 소자의 임계값 VTH과, 입사광의 투과율 또는 반사율을 최대로 변조하기 위해서 액정조성물에 인가하는 전압 VON의 관계가 VTH> |VON|을 만족하도록 구성하며,신호 전극 전압의 평균값인 센터 전압을, 주사 전극 전압을 오프 전압으로 하였을 때에 발생하는 화소 전극 전압 VS의 변동랑 △VS의 값만큼 주사 전극 전압의 오프 전압 VGL보다 높게 설정하고, 액정 구동 전압 VLC을 실질적으로 정부 대칭이 되도록 설정한 것을 특징으로 하는 액티브 매트릭스형 액정 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 주사 전극에는, 상기 신호 전극의 길이 방향으로 신장되는 돌기부가 형성되어 있고, 상기 돌기부와 상기 화소 전극에 의해 상기 액정 조성 물층의 액정 분자의 장축 방향을 기판면과 거의 평행을 유지하면서 동작할 수 있고, 상기 돌기부가 상기 드레인 전극과 인접하도록 구성되어 있는 액티브 매트릭스형 액정 표시 장치.
