Abstract

PURPOSE: To promote the hardening with cement and then reduce the elution of chromium, by adding for hardening the fine grain substance obtained by excluding the metal out of ferrous chloride, cement and steel making slag, to chromium- containing dust.
CONSTITUTION: Ferrous chloride plus the fine grain substance obtained by excluding the metal out of cement and steel slag are added to chromium-containing dust, and then water is added with kneading to give hardening to dust. Otherwise water into which ferrous chloride is dissolved is added to dust, and then the mixture of dust, cement and the fine grain substance mentioned above is added for hardening. The quantity of ferrous chloride to be added is varied properly in accordance with the type of dust. In such way, the hardening with cement can be promoted by mixing together chromium-containing dust and steel making slag which are so far useless. Furthermore, the elution of Cr6+ can be suppressed with ferrous chloride, thus making use of dust for the reclamation and other purposes.
