Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the corrosion resistance of the surface of a ferrite stainless steel just under a BA oxide film after BA treatment finishing to such a degree that it becomes equal to the corrosion resistance of the base material by combinedly adding a specified small amount of Al and Ni to the steel.
CONSTITUTION: Ni 0.2W1.5% and Al 0.02W0.2% are combinedly added to a ferrite stainless steel contg. C<0.08%, N<0.02%, Si<1.0%, Mn<1.0% and Cr 11.5<20.0%, and Mo<1.5% and/or Cu<1.0% is further added as required. When the resulting stainless steel is subjected to BA treatment finishing, the corrosion resistance of the steel surface just under the BA oxide film can be enhanced without requiring an expensive additive such as Mo.
