Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the elution of noxious chromium, by solidifying the chromiumcontaining dust with addition of ferrous chloride and cement.
CONSTITUTION: Both ordinary Portland cement and ferrous chloride are added to the chromium-containing dust, and then water is added to be kneaded together. Otherwise the dust and the cement are kneaded together with the water into which ferrous chloride is dissolved. Thus the chromium-containing dust is solidified. The volume of ferrous chloride to be added is varied properly in accordance with the type of the dust to be processed. In such way, the amount of Cr6+ eluted out of the dust can be reduced, thus ensuring an effective application of the dust to the reclamation and other purposes.
