Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the spread of a meniscus and to improve a response property of ink jet, by a method wherein a material, which has a property being nonaffinity with ink, is applied to a front surface of an ink jet orifice in an electrostatic acceleration type ink jet recorder. CONSTITUTION:The electrostatic acceleration type ink jet recorder records such that a large number of electrode plates are mounted at an internal surface of an orifice 1 of an ink jet head, and ink in the orifice 1 is jetted through the selective application of a high-voltage pulse between said electrodes 3 and a facing electrode 4 at the inside of a record paper 5. In said ink jet recorder, a material 8 (for example, an oily material if ink is aqueous, or an aqueous material if ink is oily), which has a property being nonaffinity with ink, is applied to a front surface of an upper plate 2a and a lower plate 2b, which form the orifice 1, or at the side of the record paper 5. This permits the prevention of a spread of an ink meniscus.
