Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the wrong injection of ink drops, by a method wherein a large number of electrodes, mounted at an ink jet port in an electrostatic acceleration type ink jet recorder, and a large number of control electrodes are connected together by a special process. CONSTITUTION:A large number of control electrodes 10a-10f are mounted at an upper plate 1 forming an ink jet port, and a large number of record electrodes 4a- 4u at a lower plate 1'. When a voltage, which is higher than a threshold, is selectively applied between said electrodes and a facing electrode 6 at the side of a record paper 5, ink drops are jetted from the corresponding electrode. In a device which records in a manner described above, in order to enable a desired electrode to produce a voltage, being higher than a threshold, through the combination of the record electrode row 4 and the control electrode row 10, the record electrodes 4a, 4b; 4c-4f; 4g-4j; 4k-4n; 4o-4r are positioned facing and opposite to the control electrodes 10a; 10b; 10c; 10d; 10e, respectively and are connected to a record power source 14 through switches 12a-12h, respectively. Simultaneously, the control electrodes 10a-10f are connected to a control power source 13 through switches 11a-11f, respectively.
