Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve light coupling accuracy between a photodevice and an optical fiber by a method wherein a convex region in whichever of a substrate or a photodevice and a concave region in another side are formed and position setting is performed by jointing a pair of convex and concave regions. CONSTITUTION:By utilizing selective etching tendency or selective epitaxial growing tendency which differ from each other on a different plane of crystal, on whichever of a silicon substrate 1 or photodevice 3 a concave region is formed, and on another side a convex region is formed. By jointing the convex and concave regions the substrate 1 and the photodevice 3 assembled into one, and an optical semiconductor device which has an optical fiber 2 which is situated in a V-shaped groove 1', 1'' formed on the substrate 1 and is coupled with the photodevice 3 is built. By this method a highly accurate position of photodevice referring to the substrate 1 can be obtained.
