Abstract
PURPOSE:To fix an optical fiber with higher accuracy by forming a V groove accomodating an optical fiber and a concave for evacuation on the bottom part of the V groove with which etching with an azimuth of a surface is selected on a square plate cut down from a silicon single crystal to provide a specific face of a crystal azimuth. CONSTITUTION:Linear and parallel V grooves 22 with uniform aperture width accomodating an optical fiber 1 with many core are formed with face azimuth selecting etching on the surface side of a square plate 21 which was cut down from a silicon single crystal to provide both surfaces with a crystal face of 100 and has each side with 111 taken as a crystal azimuth V grooves 23 evacuation are then formed with surface azimuth selecting etching on the rear side of the plate 21 in the direction of a right angle such that air passes through a part between the bottom part of the V groove and a minute square hole 24. Thus a substrate for fixation of an optical fiber with higher accuracy is obtained. In the V grooves 22 of this substrate optical fibers 1 are accomodated and fiber 1 are fixed with exhust air from V grooves 23 for suction, and then adhered with filling of adhesivess, etc., into the grooves 22 and fixed with a cap plate 31 on it.
