Description
被覆樹脂層は、一般に、プライマリ樹脂層及びセカンダリ樹脂層を備えている。セカンダリ樹脂層には、高いヤング率により光ファイバの側圧特性を向上することが求められる。しかしながら、フィラーの含有量を増やすと、被覆樹脂層のヤング率を高くできるものの、脆くなる傾向にある。
最初に、本開示の実施形態の内容を列記して説明する。本開示の一態様に係る光ファイバは、コア及びクラッドを含むガラスファイバと、ガラスファイバに接して該ガラスファイバを被覆するプライマリ樹脂層と、プライマリ樹脂層を被覆するセカンダリ樹脂層と、を備え、セカンダリ樹脂層が、ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートオリゴマー、モノマー及び光重合開始剤を含有するベース樹脂と、無機酸化物粒子と、を含む樹脂組成物の硬化物からなり、X線小角散乱法で測定される無機酸化物粒子の体積平均粒径が800nm以下でありかつ体積平均粒径の規格化分散が60%以下である、光ファイバである。
本開示の実施形態に係る光ファイバの具体例を、必要により図面を参照しつつ説明する。なお、本開示はこれらの例示に限定されず、請求の範囲によって示され、請求の範囲と均等の意味及び範囲内でのすべての変更が含まれることが意図される。以下の説明では、図面の説明において同一の要素には同一の符号を付し、重複する説明を省略する。
本実施形態に係る光ファイバの、セカンダリ樹脂層を形成するための樹脂組成物は、ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートオリゴマー、モノマー及び光重合開始剤を含有するベース樹脂と、無機酸化物粒子とを含む。
無機酸化物粒子としては特に制限されないが、例えば樹脂組成物中での分散性に優れ、平滑な樹脂層を形成し易いという観点から、二酸化ケイ素(シリカ)、二酸化ジルコニウム(ジルコニア)、酸化アルミニウム(アルミナ)、酸化マグネシウム(マグネシア)、酸化チタン(チタニア)、酸化スズ及び酸化亜鉛からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含む粒子であることが好ましい。廉価である、表面処理がし易い、紫外線透過性を有する、樹脂層に適度な硬さを付与し易い等の観点から、本実施形態に係る無機酸化物粒子として、シリカ粒子を用いることがより好ましい。
本実施形態に係るベース樹脂は、ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートオリゴマー、モノマー及び光重合開始剤を含有する。
図1は、本実施形態に係る光ファイバの一例を示す概略断面図である。光ファイバ10は、コア11及びクラッド12を含むガラスファイバ13と、ガラスファイバ13の外周に設けられたプライマリ樹脂層14及びセカンダリ樹脂層15を含む被覆樹脂層16とを備えている。
(オリゴマー)
オリゴマーとして、分子量600のポリプロピレングリコール、2,4-トリレンジイソシアネート及びヒドロキシエチルアクリレートを反応させることにより得られたウレタンアクリレートオリゴマー(UA)と、エポキシアクリレートオリゴマー(EA)とを準備した。
モノマーとして、イソボルニルアクリレート(大阪有機化学工業株式会社の商品名「IBXA」)、トリプロピレングリコールジアクリレート(ダイセル・オルネクス株式会社の商品名「TPGDA」)及び2-フェノキシエチルアクリレート(共栄社化学株式会社の商品名「ライトアクリレートPO-A」)を準備した。
光重合開始剤として、1-ヒドロキシシクロヘキシルフェニルケトン及び2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキシドを準備した。
各種原料を、組成物中の含有量が表1に示す割合となるように混合して、ベース樹脂を調製した。
無機酸化物粒子として、以下のシリカ粒子を含むシリカゾル(MEK分散液)を準備した。疎水性シリカ粒子については、粒径の異なるものを複数種用意した。なお、原料として用いたシリカ粒子の粒径は、BET比表面積からの換算値である。
疎水性シリカ粒子:シランカップリング剤を用いて表面処理されたシリカ粒子。
ベース樹脂と、シリカゾルとを混合した後、MEKの大部分を除去して、樹脂組成物中のシリカ粒子の含有量が表1に示す値となる樹脂組成物を調製した。
分子量4000のポリプロピレングリコール、イソホロンジイソシアネート、ヒドロキシエチルアクリレート及びメタノールを反応させることにより得られるウレタンアクリレートオリゴマーを準備した。このウレタンアクリレートオリゴマー75質量部、ノニルフェノールEO変性アクリレート12質量部、N-ビニルカプロラクタム6質量部、1,6-ヘキサンジオールジアクリレート2質量部、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキシド1質量部、及び3-メルカプトプロピルトリメトキシシラン1質量部を混合して、プライマリ樹脂層用の樹脂組成物を得た。
実施例及び比較例で得られた光ファイバに対し、以下の評価を行った。結果を表2に示す。
実施例又は比較例で得られた光ファイバを、隙間無く重ならないように並べ、1cm×4cmサイズの測定用サンプルを得た。この測定用サンプルに対し垂直にX線を入射させ、入射X線に対して5度以下の微小角度(小角)でサンプルから後方に散乱されるX線を、二次元検出器で測定した。二次元検出器では、360°方向に散乱される散乱パターンをそれぞれ取得した。ここで360°の二次元散乱パターンには、光ファイバの側面での反射に起因する成分が含まれるため、測定にはこの成分が見られない40°の成分を用いた。
「BL8S3」:X線エネルギー13.5keV、カメラ長4m、検出器R-AXISIV++。
「BL19B2」:X線エネルギー18keV、カメラ長42m、検出器PILATUS 2M。
実施例又は比較例で得られた光ファイバを、アセトン及びエタノールの混合溶剤に浸漬し、被覆樹脂層のみを筒状に抜きした。次に、真空乾燥により溶剤を除いた後、23℃50%RHに維持した恒温室にて16時間以上静置したのち、引張試験(標線間隔25mm、引張速度は1mm/min)を行った。そして、2.5%歪の割線式により被覆樹脂層のヤング率を求めた。5回測定を行い、その平均値をヤング率とした。なお、これにより求められるヤング率は、実質的にセカンダリ樹脂層のヤング率とみなすことができる。
実施例又は比較例で得られた光ファイバに対し、TIA-455-28C,FOTP-28に準拠した引張試験を行い、把持部分での割れの有無を確認した。標線間隔は500mm、引張速度は25mm/minで、15回の測定を行った。いずれの歪速度に対しても歪み量と応力のグラフにおける異常が7回以下である場合を「A」とし、8回以上である場合を「B」とした。
実施例6及び比較例2で得られた光ファイバを電子顕微鏡(×20k)にて観察した。図2Aは、実施例6で得られた光ファイバの電子顕微鏡写真である。図2Bは、比較例2で得られた光ファイバの電子顕微鏡写真である。図2A(実施例6)では、シリカ粒子は分散状態のまま樹脂層中に存在していることが分かる。一方、図2B(比較例2)では、シリカ粒子が局所的に凝集した状態で樹脂層中に存在していることが分かる。

Claims (3)
- コア及びクラッドを含むガラスファイバと、
前記ガラスファイバに接して該ガラスファイバを被覆するプライマリ樹脂層と、
前記プライマリ樹脂層を被覆するセカンダリ樹脂層と、を備え、
前記セカンダリ樹脂層が、ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートオリゴマー、モノマー及び光重合開始剤を含有するベース樹脂と、無機酸化物粒子と、を含む樹脂組成物の硬化物からなり、
前記無機酸化物粒子が疎水性であり、前記無機酸化物粒子の表面がアクリロイル基又はメタクリロイル基を有する有機化合物により処理されており、
X線小角散乱法で測定される前記無機酸化物粒子の体積平均粒径が800nm以下でありかつ前記体積平均粒径の規格化分散が60%以下である、光ファイバ。 - 前記無機酸化物粒子が、二酸化ケイ素、二酸化ジルコニウム、酸化アルミニウム、酸化マグネシウム、酸化チタン、酸化スズ及び酸化亜鉛からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を含む粒子である、請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。
- 前記無機酸化物粒子の含有量が、前記樹脂組成物の総量を基準として5質量%以上60質量%以下である、請求項1又は請求項2に記載の光ファイバ。
