Description
本発明に係る実施形態として、FFS(Fringe Field Switching)モードの液晶表示パネルに本発明を適用した例を説明する。
図1は、本発明に係る液晶表示パネル1000の平面構成を示す平面図である。なお、図1は模式的なものであり、示された構成要素の正確な大きさなどを反映するものではない。また、煩雑さを避けるため、発明に関連する部分以外は省略し、また一部簡略化などを行っている。
次に、図9〜図11を用いて本発明に係る実施の形態2の液晶表示パネルの構成について説明する。なお、以下においては図1〜図8を用いて説明した実施の形態1と同一の構成については同一の符号を付し、重複する説明は省略する。
Claims (8)
- 透明絶縁性基板と、
前記透明絶縁性基板上の表示領域に配置され、互いに交差してマトリックス状をなす信号線および走査線と、
前記走査線と並行するように配置された共通配線と、
前記信号線、前記走査線および前記共通配線を覆う絶縁膜と、
前記走査線および前記信号線により囲まれる画素部において、前記絶縁膜上に上下の位置関係となるように対向配置された下部電極および上部電極と、を有した第1の基板と、
前記第1の基板に対向して配置される第2の基板とを備え、
前記共通配線は、
前記画素部の中央部を横切るように配置され、
前記画素部は、
前記共通配線により第1および第2の領域に区画され、
前記上部電極は、
前記第1の領域においては、スリット状の第1の開口部を有し、
前記第2の領域においては、スリット状の第2の開口部を有し、
前記第1の開口部は、
前記共通配線の延在方向を基準線とした場合、スリットが第1の角度を有するように傾斜して形成され、
前記第2の開口部は、スリットが前記第1の角度とは前記基準線に対して線対称の第2の角度を有するように傾斜して形成され
前記上部電極および前記下部電極は、前記走査線および前記信号線のそれぞれの延在方向に沿った端縁部の上方に重なるように配置され、
前記第2の基板は、遮光膜を有し、
前記遮光膜は、
前記画素部における前記走査線および前記信号線の上方に対応する領域において、これらの形成領域に沿って延在して形成され、
少なくとも前記絶縁膜を貫通して前記共通配線の表面に達する第1のコンタクトホールの形成領域とその近傍の領域においては、少なくとも前記第1のコンタクトホールの上部外縁部より外側まで延在する領域の上方に対応する領域において前記遮光膜が形成されることを特徴とする、液晶表示パネル。 - 前記絶縁膜は、少なくとも1μm以上の膜厚を有して、前記信号線、前記走査線および前記共通配線の上部の前記第1の基板表面に平坦面を形成する平坦化膜である、請求項1記載の液晶表示パネル。
- 前記絶縁膜は、有機樹脂膜またはSOG(spin on glass)膜を含む、請求項2記載の液晶表示パネル。
- 前記第1の開口部は、スリットの両先端部が、前記画素部の対向する2辺を規定する前記信号線の上方にそれぞれ掛かるように形成され、
前記第2の開口部は、スリットの両先端部が、前記画素部の対向する2辺を規定する前記信号線の上方にそれぞれ掛かるように形成される、請求項1〜請求項3の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示パネル。 - 前記遮光膜は、
前記画素部における前記走査線および前記信号線の上方に対応する領域において、これらの形成領域の平面方向外側まではみ出して、前記形成領域およびその端縁部の上方を覆うように形成される、請求項1記載の液晶表示パネル。 - 前記遮光膜は、
前記画素部における前記走査線および前記信号線の上方に対応する領域において、これらの形成領域より平面方向外側にはみ出すことなく形成される、請求項1記載の液晶表示パネル。 - 前記液晶表示パネルは、
前記第1の基板と前記第2の基板との間に挟持される液晶層と、
前記液晶層に対して光が入射する側に配置された2軸位相差フィルムと、
前記2軸位相差フィルムより外側に配置された第1の偏光板と、
前記液晶層を挟んで前記第1の偏光板とは反対側に設けられた第2の偏光板と、をさらに備え、
前記液晶層の配向方向は前記共通配線の延在方向と平行な方向に設定され、
前記2軸位相差フィルムの遅相軸は前記液晶層の配向方向と平行な方向または直行する方向に設定され、
前記第1および第2の偏光板の吸収軸は、
一方は、前記液晶層の配向方向と平行な方向、他方は、直交する方向にそれぞれ設定される、請求項1〜請求項6の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示パネル。 - 前記画素部は、
前記第1の基板と前記第2の基板との間の基板間距離を保つ柱状スペーサを有し、
前記柱状スペーサは、
前記走査線の形成領域に設けられ少なくとも前記絶縁膜を貫通する第2のコンタクトホールの近傍の前記走査線の上方または前記第2のコンタクトホールの上方に設けられる、請求項1〜請求項7の何れか1項に記載の液晶表示パネル。
