Description
最初に、本発明の理解を容易にし、且つ、背景を明らかにするため、本発明の基本となる表示装置の構成と動作について図2乃至図4を参照して説明する。
図3は、ELパネル10の各画素21が発光する色の配列を示している。
図4は、ELパネル10に含まれるN×M個の画素21のうちの1つの画素21を拡大することにより、画素21の等価回路(画素回路)の構成を示したブロック図である。
図5および図6を参照して、図4の画素21のパターンレイアウトについて説明する。
図7は、画素21の動作を説明するタイミングチャートである。
そこで、上述した図2の表示装置1を基本として、より低い信号電位Vsigの映像信号で、図2の表示装置1における場合と同一の輝度の表示を可能とした表示装置について、以下に説明する。
図9は、ELパネル101の第1の実施の形態の構成例を示すブロック図である。
図9に示した2つの画素121−(N,M−1)と画素121−(N,M)のうちの画素121−(N,M)を例に、画素121の動作について、図10を参照して説明する。
ところで、上述したELパネル101は、画素121の移動度補正期間中に、前段の画素121の電源線DSLの電位を△Vdsだけ低下させることにより、駆動用トランジスタ32のゲート‐ソース間電圧Vgsを、△Vdsに対応する電圧△Vsだけ拡大した。
図13は、ELパネル101の第2の実施の形態の構成例を示すブロック図である。
図14を参照して、図13の電源スキャナ114Aによる電源線DSLの電位の制御について説明する。
図16は、図15を参照して説明したような電源電位の制御を行う電源スキャナ114Aの構成例を示している。
次に、ELパネル101の第3の実施の形態について説明する。
Claims (5)
- 画素が行列状に複数配置されている画素アレイ部と、
行方向の前記画素に共通に配線され、前記画素の各行にそれぞれ対応して配線された複数の電源線および複数の走査線と、
前記画素に前記電源線を介して所定の電源電位を供給する電源供給部を含む駆動部と
を備え、
前記画素は、
ダイオード特性を有し、駆動電流に応じて発光する発光素子と、
映像信号をサンプリングするサンプリング用トランジスタと、
前記駆動電流を前記発光素子に供給する駆動用トランジスタと、
所定の電圧を保持し、該電圧に対応する電圧を前記駆動用トランジスタのゲート・ソース間に印加する蓄積容量と、
前記蓄積容量の低電位側の一端と、列方向に隣接する隣接画素の前記電源線との間に接続され、所定の電位を保持する補助容量と
を少なくとも有し、
前記駆動部は、前記発光素子の発光に先立って、映像信号のサンプリングを行っている状態で、前記駆動用トランジスタを介した電流を前記蓄積容量に流す移動度補正動作を行い、
前記電源供給部は、前記画素において移動度補正が行われている間に、前記補助容量が接続されている前記隣接画素の前記電源線に対して、
該移動度補正の開始時においては第1の電位を供給し、
該移動度補正の開始から所定期間の経過後に、該第1の電位より低い第2の電位を供給する
表示装置。 - 前記電源供給部は、前記蓄積容量への映像信号の信号電位の書き込み終了後に、前記第2の電位の供給を開始する
請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記電源供給部は、前記第2の電位の供給を開始してからさらに所定期間の経過後に、前記第2の電位より低い第3の電位を供給する
請求項1または2に記載の表示装置。 - 前記電源供給部は、前記第2の電位から前記第3の電位となるまで、時間経過に応じて供給電位を低下させる
請求項3に記載の表示装置。 - 画素が行列状に複数配置されている画素アレイ部と、行方向の前記画素に共通に配線され、前記画素の各行にそれぞれ対応して配線された複数の電源線および複数の走査線と、前記画素に前記電源線を介して、所定の電源電位を供給する電源供給部を含む駆動部とを備え、前記画素は、ダイオード特性を有し、駆動電流に応じて発光する発光素子と、映像信号をサンプリングするサンプリング用トランジスタと、前記駆動電流を前記発光素子に供給する駆動用トランジスタと、所定の電圧を保持し、該電圧に対応する電圧を前記駆動用トランジスタのゲート・ソース間に印加する蓄積容量と、前記蓄積容量の低電位側の一端と、列方向に隣接する隣接画素の前記電源線との間に接続され、所定の電位を保持する補助容量とを少なくとも有する表示装置の、
前記駆動部が、前記発光素子の発光に先立って、映像信号のサンプリングを行っている状態で、前記駆動用トランジスタを介した電流を前記蓄積容量に流す移動度補正動作を行い、
前記電源供給部は、前記画素において移動度補正が行われている間に、前記補助容量が接続されている前記隣接画素の前記電源線に対して、
該移動度補正の開始時においては第1の電位を供給し、
該移動度補正の開始から所定期間の経過後に、該第1の電位より低い第2の電位を供給する
