Claims (8)
- 前面基板上に形成され表示ラインを構成する複数の行電極対と、背面基板上に形成され前記行電極対の各々に交叉しその交叉する方向に伸張して各交叉部に放電空間を有する表示セルを形成する複数の列電極と、前記複数の行電極対を被覆するように前記前面基板上に形成された誘電体層と、前記表示セル各々内の前記放電空間に接するように前記誘電体層上に形成され電子線の照射によって励起されて波長域200〜300nm内にピークを有するカソードルミネッセンス発光を行う酸化マグネシウム結晶体を含む酸化マグネシウム層と、を備えるプラズマディスプレイパネルと、
表示ライン群毎に前記行電極対の一方の行電極に走査パルスを順次印加すると共に映像信号に基づく画素データに応じた画素データパルスを前記列電極に印加することにより前記表示セル各々に選択的にアドレス放電を生起せしめて前記表示セル各々を点灯セル状態又は消灯セル状態に設定するアドレス走査を行うアドレス手段と、
前記アドレス手段による前記表示ライン群に対する前記アドレス走査が終了する度に、全表示ラインを構成する前記行電極対各々にサスティンパルスに印加することにより前記点灯セル状態に設定された前記表示セルのみをサスティン放電させるサスティン手段と、を有することを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイ装置。 - 前記行電極対を構成する行電極各々は、行方向に延びる本体部と、放電ギャップを介して互いに対向するように本体部から列方向に突出する突出部を有することを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記行電極の突出部は、放電ギャップ近傍の幅広部と、この幅広部と本体部を連結する幅狭部とを有することを特徴とする請求項2記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記酸化マグネシウム結晶体が、2000オングストローム以上の粒径を有していることを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記酸化マグネシウム結晶体が、マグネシウムを加熱した際に発生するマグネシウム蒸気が気相酸化されることによって生成される酸化マグネシウム単結晶体を含んでいることを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記酸化マグネシウム結晶体が波長域230〜250nm内にピークを有するカソードルミネッセンス発光を行うことを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記走査パルスのパルス幅が1μsec未満であることを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記放電空間内に、キセノンを体積で10%以上含む放電ガスが封入されていることを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
