Description
(液晶装置の構成)
まず、図1等を参照して、本発明の第1実施形態に係る液晶装置100の構成等について説明する。
次に、図2及び図3を参照して、本発明の第1実施形態に係る液晶装置100の画素構成等について説明する。
次に、図6及び図7を参照して、本発明の第2実施形態に係る液晶装置200の構成について説明する。
上記の第1及び第2の実施形態では、各共通電極20に設ける各スリット20aは、ソース線32の延在方向に一定の間隔をおいて且つゲート線33の第2配線33bの延在方向に対して所定の角度だけ傾いて設けられていた。これに限らず、本発明では、各共通電極20に設ける各スリット20aは、ソース線32の延在方向に一定の間隔をおいて且つゲート線33の第2配線33bの延在方向と同方向に延在するように設けてもよい。
次に、本発明の第1又は第2実施形態に係る液晶装置100、200を適用可能な電子機器の具体例について図8を参照して説明する。
Claims (10)
- 液晶を保持する基板を備え、
前記基板は、
スイッチング素子と、
少なくとも前記スイッチング素子の上側に設けられ、前記スイッチング素子に対応する位置にコンタクトホールを有する絶縁膜と、
前記絶縁膜の上側に設けられ、前記コンタクトホールを通じて前記スイッチング素子に電気的に接続された画素電極と、
前記画素電極の上側に設けられた他の絶縁膜と、
前記他の絶縁膜の上側に設けられ、複数のスリットを有すると共に前記画素電極との間で前記スリットの各々を通じて電界を発生させる共通電極と、を備え、
前記他の絶縁膜は、前記コンタクトホールを埋め込まずに前記コンタクトホールと平面的に重なる部分の膜厚が他の部分より薄く形成され、
前記共通電極は、前記コンタクトホールと平面的に重なり合っておらず、前記コンタクトホールの近傍位置に設けられた1つのスリットと繋がる切り欠き部分を有する液晶装置。 - 前記他の絶縁膜は、シリコンと、酸素又は窒素を含む誘電体膜であり、
前記画素電極と前記共通電極とは、前記コンタクトホールの位置において重なり合っていない請求項1に記載の液晶装置。 - 前記複数のスリットのうち、いずれか1つのスリットは、前記コンタクトホールの近傍位置に設けられ、
前記共通電極は、前記コンタクトホールに対応する位置に当該コンタクトホールより大きな面積を有し、前記1つのスリットと繋がる切り欠き部分を有する請求項1又は2に記載の液晶装置。 - 前記スイッチング素子に電気的に接続され、相互に交差する方向に延在する第1の配線及び第2の配線を有し、
前記スリットの各々は、前記第1の配線及び前記第2の配線のうち、いずれか一方の配線の延在方向に対して所定の角度だけ傾いて設けられ、
前記切り欠き部分は、前記コンタクトホールの近傍位置に設けられた前記一方の配線と前記1つのスリットとの間において、当該一方の配線と当該1つのスリットとの間隔が大きい位置側に設けられている請求項3に記載の液晶装置。 - 前記切り欠き部分は、前記第1の配線と前記第2の配線の交差位置近傍に設けられている請求項4に記載の液晶装置。
- 前記基板と前記液晶を挟んで対向する対向基板を備え、
前記対向基板は、少なくとも前記切り欠き部分及び前記一方の配線と重なる位置に遮光層を有する請求項3乃至5のいずれか一項に記載の液晶装置。 - 前記一方の配線は、データ信号が供給されるソース線又は走査信号が供給されるゲート線である請求項4乃至6のいずれか一項に記載の液晶装置。
- 前記電界は、前記液晶の駆動時に前記基板と略平行な方向及び略垂直な方向に強い電界成分を有する請求項1に記載の液晶装置。
- 請求項1乃至8のいずれか一項に記載の液晶装置を表示部として備える電子機器。
- 前記他の絶縁膜の膜厚は、精細度が200PPi以上では50nmから400nmの範囲であり、精細度が200PPi未満では200nmから1000nmの範囲である請求項1又は2に記載の液晶装置。
