Claims (16)
- 無線ローカルエリアネットワークとセルラーネットワークとの間での通信ユニットの継続中の呼のハンドオフを提供するための方法であって、
前記通信ユニットが、同通信ユニットに関連付けられる公衆番号を用いて、企業サーバが提供する前記無線ローカルエリアネットワークを通じた第1の呼を継続している間に、サービスを受けるために前記通信ユニットが前記無線ローカルエリアネットワークから前記セルラーネットワークに切り替わるべきであるかを判定すること、
前記通信ユニットが前記無線ローカルエリアネットワークから前記セルラーネットワークへ切り替わるべきであると判定したときに、前記第1の呼を継続したままで、前記通信ユニットから前記企業サーバに対し、同通信ユニットに関連付けられる個人番号を宛先とする第1のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージを送信することにより、前記セルラーネットワークへの前記ハンドオフを要求することであって、前記個人番号は前記セルラーネットワークでの通信のためのものであること、
前記企業サーバが、第2の呼のための前記第1のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージを受信したことに応答して、無線ローカルエリアネットワークにおける通信ユニットとの前記第1の呼を継続したままで、前記第2の呼のために前記セルラーネットワークと連携して前記個人番号に対する呼の設定をBTSに実行させること、及び
前記セルラーネットワーク上で、前記通信ユニットにおいて前記第1の呼を継続したままで前記第2の呼を受け付けること、
を含む方法。 - 前記通信ユニットが前記セルラーネットワークに切り替わるべきであると判定されたとき、前記ハンドオフの前記要求の前に、前記通信ユニットが前記セルラーネットワークにアクセスできるようにするために、登録情報を前記通信ユニットから企業サーバに送信することをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の呼のために前記第1のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージを送信することは、セルラーパケットデータネットワーク上で前記第1のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージを送信することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記通信ユニットが、前記第2の呼を継続している間に、セルラーネットワークから無線ローカルエリアネットワークに切り替わるべきであるかを判定すること、
前記通信ユニットが前記セルラーネットワークから前記無線ローカルエリアネットワークに切り替わるべきであることを判定したときに、前記通信ユニットからゲートウエイとして用いられる前記企業サーバに対し、前記無線ローカルエリアネットワーク上で公衆番号を宛先とする第2のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージを送信することにより、前記セルラーネットワークから前記無線ローカルエリアネットワークへのハンドオフの要求を実行すること、及び
前記第2の呼を継続したままで、前記無線ローカルエリアネットワーク上で、前記通信ユニットによって前記公衆番号への呼を受け付けること、をさらに含む請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記通信ユニットが前記無線ローカルエリアネットワークに切り替わるべきであるかを判定することは、前記企業サーバから無線ローカルエリアネットワーク信号が受信されるかを判定することをさらに含む、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記第2のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージを送信することは、前記セルラーパケットデータネットワーク上で前記第2のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージを送信することを含む、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記通信ユニットが前記無線ローカルエリアネットワークに切り替わるべきであるかを判定することは、セルラーネットワーク上でのサービスに関連するコストが、前記無線ローカルエリアネットワーク上でのサービスに関連するコストよりも著しく高いかを判定することをさらに含む、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記企業サーバを用いて三方通話を設定することをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記企業サーバは、ゲートウエイとして動作する、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 無線ローカルエリアネットワークを提供するサーバにおいて、第1の通信ユニットに対し前記無線ローカルエリアネットワークとセルラーネットワークとの間でのハンドオフを提供するための方法であって、前記第1の通信ユニットは、前記無線ローカルエリアネットワークでの通信に用いられ且つサーバ上で終端する公衆番号を有するとともに、前記セルラーネットワークでの通信のための個人番号を有しており、前記方法は、
前記第1の通信ユニットとターゲット通信ユニットとの間に、前記公衆番号を使用して前記無線ローカルエリアネットワークを介した第1の呼を開始すること、
前記第1の呼が継続している間に、前記第1の通信ユニットから第2の呼を要求するセッション開始プロトコルメッセージを前記サーバにおいて受信することであって、前記第2の呼は前記個人番号に向けられること、及び
前記サーバにおいて、前記セッション開始プロトコルメッセージを受信することに応答して、前記第1の呼を継続したままで、前記セルラーネットワークと連携して、前記個人番号でBTSから前記第1の通信ユニットへ前記第2の呼を開始し、前記第1の通信ユニットとターゲット通信ユニットとを含む電話会議を確立すること、
を含む方法。 - 前記第2の呼を要求する前記セッション開始プロトコルメッセージを受信する前に、前記サーバが前記第1の通信ユニットから登録情報を受信すること、
前記第1の通信ユニットから登録情報を受信したことに応答して、前記サーバが前記登録情報に基づいてセッション開始プロトコルレジスタを更新することをさらに含む、請求項10に記載の方法。 - 前記電話会議を確立するのに従い、前記第1の通信ユニットにおいて前記第1の呼を終了するとともに、前記第1の通信ユニットと前記ターゲット通信ユニットとの間の前記個人番号を使用した呼を確立するために前記第2の呼を維持することをさらに含む、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の呼を要求する前記セッション開始プロトコルメッセージを受信することは、セルラーパケットデータネットワークを経由して前記第2の呼を要求するセッション開始プロトコルメッセージを受信することをさらに含む、請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記第2の呼を要求する前記セッション開始プロトコルメッセージを受信することは、前記無線ローカルエリアネットワーク上で前記セッション開始プロトコルメッセージを受信することをさらに含む、請求項10に記載の方法。
- デュアルモードで動作する能力を有する通信ユニットであって、
前記通信ユニットの第1の番号と第2の番号とを格納するためのメモリであって、前記第1の番号は、前記通信ユニットが無線ローカルエリアネットワークのサーバを経由して同無線ローカルエリアネットワークにおいて動作している間に前記通信ユニットと通信するためのものであり、前記第2の番号は、前記通信ユニットがセルラーネットワークにおいて動作している間に前記通信ユニットと通信するためのものである、前記メモリと、
第1のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージと第2のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージとを生成するためのモビリティエージェントであって、前記第1のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージが、前記通信ユニットとターゲット通信ユニットとの間に前記第1の番号を使用する第1の呼を確立し、前記第2のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージが、前記第1の呼のハンドオフ要求を含み、前記第2のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージが、第2の番号に向けられる第2の呼の設定を要求する、前記モビリティエージェントと、
前記第1のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージと前記第2のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージとを送信するための送信機と、
前記無線ローカルエリアネットワークから前記セルラーネットワークに切り替わるタイミングを判定し、且つ前記セルラーネットワーク上でBTSからの前記第2の番号への呼の要求として前記第2の呼の要求を受信するための受信機と、を備え、
前記通信ユニットとターゲット通信ユニットとの間に前記無線ローカルエリアネットワークを通じた前記第1の呼が継続している間に、前記受信機が前記無線ローカルエリアネットワークから前記セルラーネットワークに切り替わるものと判定したとき、前記送信機は、前記第1の呼を継続したままで前記第2のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージを前記サーバへ送信し、
前記サーバが前記第2のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージを受信したことに応答して前記BTSが前記第2の呼の要求を送信したとき、前記受信機は、前記第1の呼を継続したままで、前記セルラーネットワーク上で前記第2の呼を受信して同第2の呼を設定する、通信ユニット。 - 前記モビリティエージェントは、共通の呼識別子を使用して前記第1のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージと前記第2のセッション開始プロトコルメッセージとを生成するための役割をさらに果たす、請求項15に記載の通信ユニット。
