図25Aは、一対のコネクタ40、60が取付けられた一対の回路基板30、31を示す。この二個のコネクタ40、60は、二枚の回路基板上の回路を接続するために互いに嵌合可能である。これらの二つのコネクタ40及び60の一方は、レセプタクル40と考えられ、すなわち、相補的な嵌合雄型プラグ部60を収容する雌型部である。この二つのコネクタ40、60は、二枚の回路基板上の回路を接続するように互いに嵌合可能である。周知のように、二枚の回路基板はそれぞれ、電気部品を支持し、その例として、マイクロプロセッサとメモリ装置が挙げられ、アナログ回路も含むがこれらに限定されない。回路基板上の電気部品は、コネクタ部分40及び60内の導体に電気的に結合されている。
本発明の一つの主な形態によれば、コネクタ40又は60の回路基板30又は31と接続する面に介在接地構造が設けられる。ドッキング型のコネクタのそのような介在接地構造は、図12A及び31Bで最も良く分かる。横断方向に延在する複数の壁51が、下側ハウジング48を、チャネル58a、58b(図12)等の複数のチャネルに分割し、図31Bで分かるように、このチャネル内に差動信号端子99が差込まれる。図12及び12Aで分かるように、一つおきの横断壁51に、接地端子184を収容するスロット183が設けられている。このような導電性の接地端子184を図27に更に詳しく示す。接地端子184は、下側ハウジング48の全体を回路基板30、31の接地回路に接続する働きをする。そのような接地端子184の構造を図27に示し、各端子184は、ハウジング保持部186と終端部187とを有する。そのような各接地端子のハウジング保持部186は、一対の平面ヘッド188を有することが好ましく、このヘッド188は、その片面に突出部188Aが形成されるように凹まされるか又は窪(くぼ)まされており、接地端子を収容するスロット183との締り嵌めを提供する。終端部187は、当技術分野で知られているように、テール部の変形可能な側壁によって囲まれた中央穴187Aを有する「針穴(eye of needle )」の種類の可撓性ピンとして示された一以上のテール部189を有する。

図18は、絶縁性本体又は支持フレーム部83内に複数の導電性端子81を収容している端子組立体80を示す。端子組立体80は、その本体部83によって、上側ハウジング61の水平壁50を収容する介在スロット85によって分離された水平脚84と、また、下側ハウジング48の垂直壁51を収容する介在スロット87によって分離された垂直脚86を有すると考えることができる。スロット85と87は、図18に示した軸「RD」に沿って延在する介在ウェブ部302によって分離されている。絶縁性本体部83は、好ましくは、図29に示したように打抜き後に、好ましくはインサート成形によって形成される。図18は、端子組立体80の一方の側面90を示しており、図19は、端子組立体80の他方の側面91を示している。二つの半体、すなわち部品は、形状が互いに鏡像関係にあり、それぞれ、対向している側面に、隆起した係合突起又は係合凹部を有する。図20A〜20Cに最もよく示したように、二つの半体は、中央の分割線に沿って組合され、絶縁性本体部には、端子相互接続部の一部分と重なる複数のスロット又は開口部96が形成される。これらの開口部は、図面に示したように、端子組立体内の端子の経路Pを辿る。
図37〜38は、特に基板間の用途に使用するのに適した別の型のコネクタを示す。このコネクタ200は、ほとんどの場合、「介在物」、すなわち二個の構成要素間に延在してそれらを分離する要素として使用され、この例では、二個の構成要素は、回路基板210、212である。コネクタ200は、第1の回路基板210の両面に取付けられた二つの組合せ(ganged)遮蔽ケージ215とともに使用されるように示されている。
図53〜55は、回路基板31上に垂直な向きに構成された単一のレセプタクル部材601を使用し、また差動信号用途に使用されることが好ましい本発明のもう一つの実施形態600を示す。レセプタクル部材は、単一部品として形成された絶縁性ハウジングを含み、他の実施形態で説明したような内部キャビティ609内に配列された複数の端子組立体605を収容する中央の開口603を備えている。レセプタクル部材601は、対応するプラグ部材60のブラインド結合又は位置保証嵌合プラグ70を収容する一以上の係合孔602が両側に配置されている。図54に示したように、端子組立体605は、互いに隣接して配置されており、レセプタクルキャビティ609に収容されたベース部620を有する。コネクタ601は、また、コネクタ601の下面のスロット(図示せず)に収容され、また、差動信号端子を個別のグループに分けるように配列された、図に示し上で説明した型の複数の独立接地端子627を含む。接地端子及び信号端子のテール部は両方とも、回路基板31に形成された対応する穴又はビア640に収容されている。
Claims (19)
- 回路基板上の差動信号回路への接続に使用するコネクタ組立体であって、
コネクタハウジングであって、該コネクタハウジングを完全に貫通する複数のチャネルを前記コネクタハウジング内に部分的に画定する複数の長手方向に延在する壁と横断方向に延在する壁とを含み、前記チャネルのそれぞれを取囲む基準接地を提供するために前記複数のチャネルの表面上の導電性材料を備え、回路基板に実装するための実装面を備えるコネクタハウジングと、
前記チャネルに収容された複数の端子組立体であって、各々が、絶縁性の本体部内に保持された差動信号端子の対を含み、該差動信号端子の対が、差動信号端子の対を前記回路基板上の回路に接続するために、前記端子組立体の端にテール部を含み、前記本体部がチャネル内に少なくとも部分的に保持された端子組立体と、
前記複数の壁に沿って、コネクタハウジングの実装面に配置された複数の分離した接地端子であって、該接地端子の各々が差動信号端子の対の間に位置し、ハウジング表面の前記導電性材料と電気的に接触している接地端子とを有し、
前記差動信号端子の対の間にある前記接地端子は前記コネクタハウジングの実装面に形成されたスロットの内に配置され、それにより、コネクタハウジングの表面上にある前記導電性材料を複数の位置において前記回路基板上の接地回路に電気的に接続し、コネクタと回路基板との境界面において差動信号端子の対に隣接して配置されたことを特徴とするコネクタ組立体。 - 前記複数の接地端子がそれぞれ複数の接地端子を含む、請求項1に記載のコネクタ組立体。
- 各接地端子が含む複数の接地端子が、前記複数の差動信号端子の対に対して中間位置に配置された、請求項2に記載のコネクタ組立体。
- 前記接地端子のうちの少なくともいくつかは、四対の差動信号端子の対に隣接して配置されるように差動信号端子の対の間に配置された、請求項3に記載のコネクタ組立体。
- 前記複数の接地端子が、コネクタの前記壁に沿って、前記複数の差動信号端子の対をグループに分割する位置に配置された、請求項1に記載のコネクタ組立体。
- 前記複数の接地端子が、コネクタの前記横断方向に延在する壁のうちの選択された壁に沿って配置された、請求項1に記載のコネクタ組立体。
- 前記複数の接地端子が、コネクタの前記長手方向に延在する壁のうちの選択された壁に沿って配置された、請求項1に記載のコネクタ組立体。
- 前記複数の接地端子が、コネクタの前記長手方向に延在する壁及び横断方向に延在する壁のうちの選択された壁に沿って配置された、請求項1に記載のコネクタ組立体。
- 前記コネクタ組立体がドッキング型のものである、請求項1に記載のコネクタ組立体。
- 前記コネクタ組立体が、二枚の回路基板上の差動信号端子の対を相互接続する介在型のものであり、コネクタハウジングが二つの別個の実装面を備え、該実装面の各々は前記接地端子を収容するスロットを含む、請求項1に記載のコネクタ組立体。
- 前記接地端子は可撓性の部分を備える、請求項2に記載のコネクタ組立体。
- 隣接して配置された接地端子に対する差動信号端子の対の差動信号の親和性によって、コネクタ組立体と回路基板との境界面におけるインピーダンスがコネクタ内のインピーダンスと比較して相対的に均一になっている、請求項3に記載のコネクタ組立体。
- 接地が改善された電気コネクタであって、
絶縁性のコネクタハウジングであって、少なくとも一つの終端面が配置された本体部、及び、該本体部内に画定され、前記コネクタハウジングを完全に貫通して延在するとともに前記終端面に開口している複数の内部のキャビティを備え、前記本体部が、少なくとも前記終端面に配置された導電性の面を備える絶縁性のコネクタハウジングと、
前記キャビティに収容された複数の導電性の信号端子であって、各々が絶縁性の支持フレームによって支持され、対向する接触部とテール部とを含み、該テール部が、前記終端面に沿って前記本体部から延出している導電性の信号端子と、
前記本体部の終端面に配置され、前記コネクタハウジングの導電性の面を対向する回路基板上の少なくとも一つの接地回路に接続する複数の接地端子であって、前記本体部の終端面に配列される接地端子とを有し、
前記複数の接地端子は、前記信号端子のテール部を個別のグループに分割し、更に前記信号端子と前記接地端子との間に複数の個別の接地経路を画定することを特徴とする電気コネクタ。 - 前記本体部が、前記終端面に沿って形成された複数のスロットを含み、該スロットが、前記終端面の前記キャビティの開口の間に配置され、前記スロットがそれぞれ、少なくとも一つの接地端子を収容している、請求項13に記載の電気コネクタ。
- 前記本体部の終端面の導電性表面が、前記スロット内に延在して前記接地端子との電気接触を確立する、請求項14に記載の電気コネクタ。
- 少なくとも二つの信号端子が、前記キャビティのそれぞれに収容されており、前記二つの信号端子が、それぞれの前記キャビティ内に少なくとも一対の差動信号端子の対を画定する、請求項13に記載の電気コネクタ。
- 前記接地端子が、前記本体部のキャビティから外方に延在するテール部と、前記本体部のキャビティ内に収容された保持部とを含む、請求項13に記載の電気コネクタ。
- 前記接地端子のテール部が可撓性ピンを含む、請求項17に記載の電気コネクタ。
- 可撓性ピンが、針穴付き可撓性ピンを含む、請求項18に記載の電気コネクタ。
