Description
Ccp/(Ccp+Clcb)の値が1より小さいので第2液晶キャパシタ(Clcb)に充電された電圧(Vb)は、第1液晶キャパシタ(Clca)に充電された電圧(Va)に比べて常に小さい。このような関係は、ストレージキャパシタ(Csta)に印加された電圧が共通電圧(Vcom)でない場合にも同様に成立する。

Claims (25)
- 基板と、
前記基板上に形成され、第1及び第2副画素電極を含む画素電極と、を備え、
前記第1及び第2副画素電極は、それぞれ縦辺及び当該縦辺と隣接する斜辺を有する平行四辺形の電極片を少なくとも2つ含むことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1及び第2副画素電極のそれぞれにおいて、前記少なくとも2つ電極片の縦辺は互いに接することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1及び第2副画素電極のそれぞれにおいて、前記少なくとも2つ電極片の斜辺が直角をなすことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1副画素電極の縦辺の長さと前記第2副画素電極の縦辺の長さとが互いに異なることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1副画素電極と前記第2副画素電極とが縦方向に隣接することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1副画素電極の縦中心線と前記第2副画素電極の縦中心線とは整列されていることを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記画素電極と対向する共通電極と、
前記共通電極に形成される第1傾斜方向決定部材と、をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1傾斜方向決定部材は、前記電極片の斜辺と実質的に平行な斜線部を有する複数の第1切開部を含むことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1及び第2副画素電極のそれぞれに形成される第2傾斜方向決定部材をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第2傾斜方向決定部材は、前記電極片の斜辺と実質的に平行な斜線部を有する複数の第2切開部を含むことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1副画素電極の電圧と前記第2副画素電極の電圧とは互いに異なることを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1副画素電極の面積が前記第2副画素電極の面積よりも小さく、前記第1副画素電極の電圧が前記第2副画素電極の電圧よりも高いことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1副画素電極と前記第2副画素電極は、一つの画像情報から得られた互いに異なるデータ電圧の印加を受けることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1副画素電極と接続される第1薄膜トランジスタと、
前記第2副画素電極と接続される第2薄膜トランジスタと、
前記第1薄膜トランジスタと接続される第1信号線と、
前記第2薄膜トランジスタと接続される第2信号線と、
前記第1及び第2薄膜トランジスタと接続され、前記第1及び第2信号線と交差する第3信号線と、をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項13に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1及び第2薄膜トランジスタは、前記第1及び第2信号線からの信号によって導通して、前記第3信号線からの信号を伝達することを特徴とする請求項14に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1及び第2薄膜トランジスタは、それぞれ前記第3信号線からの信号によって導通して、前記第1及び第2信号線からの信号を伝達することを特徴とする請求項14に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記画素電極を横切る第4信号線をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項14に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1及び第2薄膜トランジスタは、前記第4信号線と重畳する第1及び第2ドレイン電極をそれぞれ含むことを特徴とする請求項17に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1副画素電極と前記第2副画素電極とが容量性結合することを特徴とする請求項11に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記第1副画素電極と接続される薄膜トランジスタと、
前記薄膜トランジスタと接続される第1信号線と、
前記薄膜トランジスタと接続され、前記第1信号線と交差する第2信号線と、をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項19に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第1及び第2副画素電極は互いに接続されることを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項6のいずれか1項に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 基板と、
前記基板上に形成される画素電極と、を備え、
前記画素電極は、縦辺及び当該縦辺と隣接する斜辺を有する平行四辺形の電極片を少なくとも2つ含むことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記少なくとも2つの電極片の縦辺が互いに接することを特徴とする請求項22に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記少なくとも2つ電極片の斜辺が直角をなすことを特徴とする請求項22に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記画素電極と接続される薄膜トランジスタと、
前記薄膜トランジスタと接続される第1信号線と、
