Claims (13)
- 複数本の信号導体と少なくとも1本の接地導体を有する少なくとも1本のケーブルを相手側コネクタに接続するための高速コネクタであって、
ケーブルの自由端を所定の位置に保持するためのホルダと、
複数本の導電性信号端子と1本の接地端子であって、各端子の両端には終端端部と接触端部が設けられ、前記ケーブルの信号及び接地導体に終端する端子と、
上側本体部と下側本体部とを相互係合させて形成した絶縁性ハウジングであって、相手側コネクタと嵌合するための嵌合面と前記ケーブルと係合するためのケーブル面とを備え、上側及び下側本体部は、協働してケーブルホルダと前記端子をハウジング内の所定の位置に保持し、上側本体部は、該上側本体部を貫通して延在する上側接地孔を備え、下側本体部は、該下側本体部を貫通して延在する下側接地孔を備え、更に、嵌合面に沿って形成した複数の嵌合開口を含み、各嵌合開口が前記コネクタの単一の端子に連通しているハウジングと、
該ハウジングの上側及び下側面の両方に設けられた接地シェルであって、前記ハウジングの嵌合開口と対応しこれと位置合せされた複数の開口が形成されており、更に、前記ハウジング内の前記接地端子に接触して、前記コネクタに接地を提供する接地アームを含む接地シェルとを有するコネクタ。 - 前記ハウジングの下側本体部は、該下側本体部上に設けられるとともに前記ハウジング内において長手方向に延在して複数の端子収容空間を画定する複数の仕切を含み、前記端子が仕切の間の端子収容空間に配置されている、請求項1に記載のコネクタ。
- 前記ハウジングの上側本体部と下側本体部は超音波溶接によって互いに接合されている、請求項1に記載のコネクタ。
- 前記ハウジングの上側及び下側本体部は複数の組立孔を含み、前記ケーブルホルダからは複数の組立ポストが突出しており、該組立ポストが前記組立孔内に収容され、これにより、前記ケーブルホルダが前記ハウジング内に固定されている、請求項1に記載のコネクタ。
- 前記ケーブル線が前記端子の終端部にスポット溶接で接合されている、請求項1に記載のコネクタ。
- 前記接地シェルは、前記ハウジングの上側接地孔を貫通して延在して前記接地端子と接触する上側接地アームを備えた上側接地プレートと、前記ハウジングの下側本体部を貫通して延在して前記接地端子と接触する下側接地アームを備えた下側接地プレートと、
上側及び下側接地プレートの前端を相互に接続し、更に、前記ハウジングの嵌合開口に対応しこれと位置合せされた嵌合開口を画定する複数の接続ブリッジとを含む、請求項1に記載のコネクタ。 - 前記上側及び下側接地アームは前記接地端子にその両側から接触して、三層の接地接続を画定する、請求項6に記載のコネクタ。
- 前記上側及び下側接地プレートは、いずれも前記ハウジングの嵌合面と前記ケーブルホルダとの間で延在する長さを備える、請求項6に記載のコネクタ。
- 前記上側及び下側接地プレートは、等しい長さを備える、請求項8に記載のコネクタ。
- 前記上側及び下側接地アームは、前記接地シェルの上側及び下側接地プレートのそれぞれの中央部分に形成されている、請求項6に記載のコネクタ。
- 前記接地シェルの上側及び下側接地プレートの内の少なくとも一方は、接地プレート上に形成されるとともにそれと交差する方向に向けられ、前記相手側コネクタの側部に接触する可撓性の接触アームを含む、請求項6に記載のコネクタ。
- 前記接地シェルの上側及び下側接地プレートの各々が、接地プレート上に形成されるとともにそれと交差する方向に向けられ、前記相手側コネクタの側部に接触する可撓性の接触アームを含む、請求項6に記載のコネクタ。
- 高速ケーブルコネクタを製造する方法であって、
ケーブルの外部絶縁を除去することによってケーブルのリード線を露出させるとともに、前記ケーブルをケーブルホルダに固定する段階と、
ケーブルのリード線を複数の導電性端子の終端部に溶接する段階と、
端子を絶縁性ハウジングベース内に位置決めするとともに、該ハウジングベース上にカバーを組付けてコネクタハウジングを画定する段階と、
前記ハウジングの対向する上側及び下側面を覆うように前記ハウジングの外面上に接地シェルを組付ける段階とを有する方法。
